Sad, but a good idea I guess.
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

It's a decent idea strategically, but the false perception it creates (fueled by Dave Meyer's comments) that we're starved for fans is troublesome.

1,300 people buying tickets and traveling from Ohio to Mobile at a very inconvienent time in uncertain economic times is damn good in my book and nothing we should have to stick our tail between our legs and apologize for.

If Ohio State fans want to spend their money on Bowling Green football, I think that's great.

Lord knows how much money Bowling Green fans have spent on Ohio State football over the years.

1,300 is terrible. I hadn't heard that number before. It makes us look pathetic. I like the idea of recruiting OSU fans, but did we have to let out the number?

But the bottom line is, well, the bottom line. Circumstances are what they are, but we have to bring fans.

I seem to recall, though, the folks in Mobile being very happy with BG in 2004. I dunno. Whatever it takes, I guess.

Well, without wishing to take tickets off the shelf that could otherwise be available if BG came close to selling its "allocation", what about people like me who would go but can't really? Mobile is not viable for me from here. I could have gone to Toronto, but I would still happily buy a ticket or two for Mobile instead and let the Athletic department hand it/them out if sales were slow. Or, perhaps donate to bowl-starved Toledo fans who are good eggs really, promise to wear the brown and orange, and behave. After all, Christmas is a time for giving to those that need.

Is there anyone in particular at the Athletic office who can help non standard risks like me?

I don't think I want to know the answer to that question.

SF,
No doubt about that. For all the "You should support OSU since it's in Ohio" crap I hear from OSU fans, well, how about showing support for an OHIO school now? Let's see if this works both ways.

Joe Falcon,
I agree, bro. This bowl game is on a SUNDAY NIGHT and most folks have to go to work or school the next day. I can go since I have vacation days to do so....but not many can make that trip. And it's not been great with the economy so that will play a MAJOR part in who goes.
And Dave Meyer's comments don't sit well with me. :x

I agree Freak. The timing is horrible, really. Although I love that we get a late bowl and our team gets more time to practice, its still the Sunday before I go back to school. I'm sure I'm not the only one in that boat and many others have work & other things to do. It's still not as bad as the National Championship being on Monday night though!

I wonder if our numbers would have improved had we been going to Toronto.

It would have at least gone +2, as my dad and I were going to go if that were the case.

Zom: Because of my busted ankle and surgery tomorrow, I've cancelled all our bowl plans and have told the Ath. Dept. to DONATE my tix to the Mobile charities that take underprivileged kids to the game...It's the best way to go...if you can't go to the game.
