Ice Storm

Post by Lord_Byron »

Things aren't so great in Tulsa this week. Not sure how it affects the University.

Tulsa Ice Storm

This happened to us in Rochester in 1991. We were without electricity for 8 days. I'll tell you, it's tough to keep concentration on anything other than. "When am I going to be warm again?".

Been through the ice storm thing before. Not pleasant.

Hope the situation returns to normal quickly.

I spent over 4 hours yesterday chipping about a quarter inch of ice off of my driveway and the walkway up to the porch...I'm about half way done with the whole thing.

It's times like this that make me question our decision to buy a house 400ft off the road.... :-)
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

We use to go over to the SRC and hit golfballs in the Combatives Room downstairs. We would practice or drives and hitting our fairway irons.

I saw a work today that we had over 180,000 customers out by mid day monday. I couldn't help but think that this may keep them from watching as much film on us as they would like. But then I remembered that we still have a good bit of time until gameday.

When I walk to my office downtown I take a circuitous route that takes me past nothing but law offices. They ALWAYS have their walks clear and dry by 6.

The university is fine. The law school and some apartments lost power. Finals are going on.

It's a weird storm. We had a bad ice storm last year that made the roads really scary for a couple of weeks. This storm did nothing to the roads, but froze a bunch of trees that started cracking early Monday morning.

The city basically shut down by noon Monday and is sort of not up to speed. The most densely populated part of town still has no power. It's messed up.
