BSman62 - there are a few UT message boards.

Toledo is split between those three boards, where BG has just the one board. It's good for BG because having one board makes it look busier. In more recent years Toledo has a slightly higher attendance figure than BG, but in reality there isn't much difference in fan support between the two. Although it should be noted that Toledo is the only MAC school to average over 30K in a season (2001)!
As for the rivlary between Toledo and Bowling Green..........it goes back to 1919. It was Toledo's third year of football and Bowling Green's first year of football. It is a really big deal in the MAC, this rivalry. At the same time, there is a good deal of mutual respect between the players, coaches, and some of us fans. Others of us just hate each other.
Both the UT and BG football teams will talk about the rivalry throughout the season and spend a little portion of practice each week just focusing on the upcoming game during the week of Thanksgiving.
Here's a story I wrote up about the rivalry before this year's game.

That's exactly why institutions get ulcer's from message boards. To be honest there isn't a whole lot to be done about message board postings, but I know what you mean by some of the posts on here.Dayons_Den wrote:Has anyone ever looked in to NCAA ramifications regarding communications with potential student-athletes and potential student athletes' families?
Just wondering . . .
Just as long as no one from either school directly contacts him or his family and tries to persuade them one way or another.
As a member of the media, you are told that you have a very definite line that you must follow when talking to anyone. You cannot show favortism in any way and you have to be careful about what you say and how you word questions to them.
If you are not a member of the media and you are on this message board, you are most likely considered a booster to BG or UT (H2Oville) in the eyes of the NCAA. So, if you happen to run into Blaine or his family..........think before you speak.

To be on the safe side I like to use code names for athletes. For example, if the recruit's name is Blaine I might use Baire when I'm posting, just to confuse the NCAA. Some people just think I can't type.Dayons_Den wrote:Has anyone ever looked in to NCAA ramifications regarding communications with potential student-athletes and potential student athletes' families?

Hey, never let facts get in the way of some good innuendo.theziggies wrote:if you're so sure, then explain how the Rockets actually won by eight?cowboyjoe wrote:You are correct Factman..that "point guard" up north launched up a three pointer with no one on him when the rest of the players were shaking hands as time was winding down under 10 seconds in their opening round MAC tourney game last year against Eastern. Funny how the line was UT -9 and the score was right at 9 when he took the shot at the buzzer. Interesting, heh? By the way he missed. He didn't look to happy after the game for some reason. Hmmm....

I prefer to to think that we have one busy looking board because BGSU fans can get it right the first time.. Excellent work, Grant...dad was and doubtless still is proud of you
Annnnnndddd...in spite of our often times contentious discussions (witness the multi-page thread on coach Brandon's contract extension) we don't exile anyone or "force them off"...no matter how insane their ramblings become.
OTOH, the moderators at the UT sites support the use of waterboarding on anyone who won't support the induction of CHuck Ealy into the college football hall of fame...they also have a method of torture known as "Amstutzing". This widely condenmed practice involves the use of physical restraints and the coach's unwashed "lucky underpants"....decorum forbids me from going further, but you get the idea...

Not to mention the classless moderator "Karl" on the MACbbs board who goes in and changes the text of other peopless posts just trying to be funny. For example, I typed once about being more savvy than some other poster, a totally harmless remark, and Karl felt the need to alter my post to say that I was more silly than the other poster or something like that.Flipper wrote:I prefer to to think that we have one busy looking board because BGSU fans can get it right the first time.. I really resent the waterboarding comment. With all the stuff that's been written about that lately its just not funny. Besides, it was only those two times and you survived, so stop being a little girl!Flipper wrote: OTOH, the moderators at the UT sites support the use of waterboarding on anyone who won't support the induction of CHuck Ealy into the college football hall of fame...they also have a method of torture known as "Amstutzing".
