From the espn.com article it almost seemed like Mr. Meyer talked as though we don't appreciate the opportunity to play down there. You folks affiliated with the bowl aren't feeling that from us are you?
I didn't get that vibe at all from Mr. Meyer's quotes, & I think people are reading too much into them. I think, as someone said in another thread, he was merely the mouthpiece for a plan hatched by GC. Someone else (TG1996, I think) probably said it best when he talked about BG's "Hey, why not?" idea being (mis)interpreted as desperation by others. I'm paraphrasing, but you get my drift.

I have yet to talk to anyone, athletic department worker or otherwise, who is not thrilled about this bowl bid and a trip to Mobile. I was not able to make the trip in '04, but all accounts were that the people of Mobile were great hosts. Looking forward to this year's trip!

I was trying not to read too much into what he was saying. I am all for this plan of action. I just think Mr. Meyer said a couple things too much in a way that made this trip seem like a chore.

I just want to get this bowl game started, cause people are starting to talk stupid and whine about anything just because it is nothing to talk about.

For anyone interested...here's the hotel info for the FMB

Ramada Inn
850 Beltline Hwy S
Mobile

MobileBama: any ideas as to where this hotel is at in relation to the Parade Route and/or stadium?

It's about 10 minutes. You can take a straight shot to downtown or take the Interstate as shown in this link.

That doesn't exactly look like walking distance from ourhotel to downtown there on that map. I would like to actually be able to go out to eat or walk around the town during our limited free time.

Niz, take a taxi downtown and you'll be able to walk around. Just ask the driver to drop you off at Bienville Square. Write down these numbers and keep them in your wallet. Also, make sure you have your hotel and address on hand too.

Yeah, you won't enjoy walking around your hotel. Lots of other hotels, I-65 and some fast food restaurants. Make sure to bring your camera for the parade/pep-rally

That's why I'm leaving Thursday. Me and a Ball State fan will stop in Nashville on the way down and get into Mobile on Friday. I'll be the big white guy wearing a BG shirt, a BG ball cap and husky jeans or kakhis. Now that it's been narrowed down, if you see me say "hi."

One good thing about a pink slip for Christmas: You can leave for the GMAC bowl a little early.

Go Falcons!
go cards.

I won't be heading down until midnight Friday/Saturday. What time is everyone planning on getting to the stadium to tailgate.

I planning on partying at Pat's no later than 4, 4:30 on Sat.

Then planning on getting to the stadium 3:30-4ish on Sunday. I'll have my grill. Look for the flags, please stop by and share a beer and say hello!!!

Sounds good. I'll be "browned out" Saturday and wearing my new white jersey (#13) for game day. The team's wearing white on gameday, right?

I haven't seen or heard which color jersey BG is wearing for the game. I will be bringing both white and orange with me.

I think I'll be hitting Pat's by 2 now...
