Shaun Suisham

Senior placekicker Shaun Suisham set one record, tied another and extended yet another in the game ... he kicked five extra points in the contest, breaking the NCAA career mark in that category ... Suisham now has 219 successful PATs as a Falcon, breaking the record set by Nebraska's Kris Brown (217 from 1995-98).

Suisham hit a 34-yard field goal with 9:58 left in the second quarter, his second three-pointer of the night and the 44th of his career ... he is tied for the career field-goal record at BGSU, matching the mark originally set by Gehad Youssef and matched by Brian Leaver.

Suisham extended his MAC record for consecutive PAT kicks to 62 ... the old record for successful point-after tries in a season was 53, set by Miami's John Scott in 1997.

But missed two very important first half field goals :(

You know, I don't fault him for missing those extra points. The first one wa a fifty-yarder, which is always difficult.

I really wish people would be celebrating something like this instead of calling for Brandon's head all of the time. Its great to be mad at the fact that we lost the game, at the coach, and how our team played. Its entirely another to overlook the good things that our guys did during the game.

ITS NOT EVERY DAY A FALCON BREAKS AN NCAA RECORD!!!!!!!!!!

I love all of you guys around here, but get over it. Everyone send Shaun some cookies! :P

Suisham came under some fire last year and he responded with an incredible senior year. My hat is off to the young man!

Plus, he posed for a picture with my son.

It's best that I send verbal "cookies" -- Great job .

And, I agree, get over it folks. Be thankful for the past four years. We can now hang our hats on four straight eight win or more seasons. That's a far cry from six straight losing seasons. How soon we forget.

Stuff yourself on turkey or whatever you like.

Thanks to the Falcons one and all -- in any sport --

Peace

and his girlfriend is really hot.

and he is responsible for one of my all-time favorite gregg brandon quotes.

Brandon to Suisham's girlfriend: "So, your boyfriend is about to break the NCAA record for most extra points. That's really good for him."

Suisham's girlfriend: "Yeah, that's great. I'm so proud of him."

Brandon: "Well, don't let him get too cocky. The last thing I need right now is a god damn cocky kicker."

absolute classic if you heard it in person.

Yeah 50 yard extra point, we must have had two personal fouls assessed to the kick, making it a 50 yard extra point

That was a great quote, but my all time favorite quote is from Woody Hayes. He went for 2 points when his team was up by 30 on Michigan with less than 2 minutes left in the game.

Someone asked him why he went for 2 with his team up by 30 and he said "I went for 2 because I couldn't go for 3"

Now that is a nice quote.

I was disappointed that there was no announcement about it or anything after he broke the NCAA record. You would think he would atleast get some recognition for it. I moved off to the side of the band to watch it happen and everyone started asking where are you going, what are you doing? I simply responded, "Watching history."

Great for Shaun. He has definitely rebounded to have a spectacular senior year after a very tumultuous Jr. campaign.

He was BOOMING some kickoffs yesterday too. Good luck to him & his girlfriend! ;)
