Gee, I don't know that it really matters. I graduated from UT, and even if it didn't have the residential learning experience thing that you say BG has, I am now making 6 figures while working and living in the area of the country that has the highest population of people that serve our country and defend it by putting their lives in danger for our freedom. If you ask me, that is just AWESOME!

Problem with that is that he has most likely already seen how much time RF spends on the Rocket Digest board, which is about 90 times more than on here. It can be tough, but I've always been one to take pride in my jobs.

This thread has been fun...but seriously, I'm sure Blaine will be happy with his choice no matter what path he takes as he's looking at some very solid programs at great institutions.

I'm a bit concerned about Blaire though....he doesn't seem as savvy as Blaine...

Blaire's an idiot. We don't really want him unless he can help us get Blaine. I am also an idiot and am pretty ripped right now so I absolve mu=yself of any responsibility for what I type tonight.

Courses for horses, Freak. I spent a lot of my formative years a block from UT at my grandparent's home and loved the big city atmosphere and opportunities. Lots of people are looking for a quieter, more campus oriented place and Bg fits the bill. Both are good schools and depending on what you want to study one or the other can provide a quality education.

Ah, fatman, RWT loves our board more than AZZ so you have the same situation in reverse there. Plus my posts at MACBBS far exceed those here. But hey, you da man with the facts. Interestingly, I see you posting a lot over there on the MACBBs lately.

But those of you who know about my friendship with BGHoward understand how I came to post here. Gotta say for the most part the folks here are pretty congenial and anybody who truly believes that one's choice of a university says much about the kind of person they are is not too swift anyways.

Sure. The further you get away from college, the less that degree matters. No question.

When you are experiencing college, the experience matters.

Just to get the "facts" straight and put things in perpespective, I have posted a grand total of 431 times on the entire NCAbbs board, which includes the MAC, BG, Big Ten and others, as well as your "rent a board". You have posted over 1800 posts just on the good ole AZZ board. Hell, even RF has over 800 over here!

When I toured BG, I was hooked. There was just "something" about the place. It's where I wanted to be - and I didn't bother applying for any other school.

I've never regretted my decision.

I truly hope Blaine has my same feelings years after graduation - regardless of his chosen school.

My parents, UT grads both, wanted me to apply at three schools so I did but as my mom is fond of reminding me, when she asked me at age six what I wanted to do in life my only answer was "Attend the University of Toledo". And I did. Twice so far. No doctorate in the offing but if I get bored and decide I want one I'll be back at UT. Then med school....Nah!

Sure. The further you get away from college, the less that degree matters. No question.

But you and I are, relatively speaking, old men.

When you are experiencing college, the experience matters.

Call me a late bloomer. I started out after high school at UT, but then was working 6 or 7 days a week overnight so I stopped school. I went back and got my degree 3 years ago. My experience was pretty cool at UT though, both times.

Keep in mind though that student-athletes are gonna have THE EXPERIENCE no matter where they go. Their experience consists of classes, team meetings, practices, film room, studying, and hanging out with teammates to get a better bond. That's probably 99% of their college life right there. And in the off-season they are doing off-season workouts instead of practice, and sometimes an extra class to stay on target for their degree. Student-athletes stay in the dorms (later may get an off campus apartment as seniors or something) no matter how far their house is, so they are getting the dorm life and not the commute that so many talk of here.

As for Blaine.......he's going to get a solid education whether it is BG, WMU, BSU or UT and he will make the correct decision for himself and his family not matter what others may want him to do.

As for Blaire..........I'm not even going there. H2Oville has too strong of a bond with Blaire.
