BG down 13 at halftime
BG down 13 at halftime
BG trails ISU 32-19 at the half. I wonder what is colder right now, our shooting percentage at the half (30.8% including 11.1% from three), or the weather outside Anderson Arena? My guess is it could actually be a tie, without wind chill and with wind chill, respectively.

Why was Hamblet out? I don't remember hearing anything about him not being able to go.OSUFALCON wrote:Fact is we are not a very good team right now. Doesn't mean we will be bad all year but without Hamblet today we didn't have enough offence. This will be a work in progress. Keep working at it.

Ryan's blog says this...
http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dl ... 8/-1/RSS17
Senior Ryne Hamblet has been suspended indefinitely for violation of team rules. He is nowhere in the building, and I know this because there’s about 26 people here. I’m sure we’ll learn more within the next few days. Hamblet is averaging 12.6 points per game. Bad, bad news for the Falcons.

26 people? But the box score said 659. Who can we trust?
On a serious, Hamblet-related note, that doesn't sound good. Hope he gets his (stuff) in order and back on the floor.

Disappointing loss, no doubt. The Hamblet deal concerns me. Sounds like we will need plenty of patience in this first year for Coach Orr.
BTW, at the end of the women's game at IU, I saw JD Campbell behind the scorers table and sitting right next to him was a certain Dan Dakich. The camera was showing the players shaking hands and they were right there in the pic.

A friend of mine was at the game and sent me a text message that DD was sitting right behind the BG bench during the game.Falconfreak90 wrote:BTW, at the end of the women's game at IU, I saw JD Campbell behind the scorers table and sitting right next to him was a certain Dan Dakich. A BG player suspened for a game? Boy, nobody making that big of a deal out of it....if DD did it, it would have been like the sky was falling and people would be talking of Hamblet leaving the team. So far in the Orr tenure we have had 2 players leave, one player suspended, he's received 2 technical fouls, and he never sits down during games. Sound familiar?
To even come close to drawing comparisons between Coach Orr and Dakich is laughable at best. Orr is handcuffed with a team that lacks any real athleticism and poor fundamentals. The fact that Coach Orr has used zone this year at all shows you how far apart their philosophies are. I can't even begin to count the number of times I sat in Anderson and watched Dan's teams be constantly outmatched because of his simple refusal to play zone, despite 4 and sometimes 5 of his guys being completely incapable of guarding anyone the opposing team brought with them.
I'm sure the kids are hearing a lot different language used in practice as well.
Personally, I like what Coach Orr has done. Guerin and Dusan are good intramural players at best. Find me a Division I team that is knocking down our door to have either one, it won't happen. Neither can defend and are completely one-dimensional players who don't do their one-dimension very well.
The other suspensions that have been used throughout the year, by all accounts, are used to hold players accountable for their actions off the court. I'm OK with that. If you're going to represent the University, your team, your family and most importantly yourself, then you need to have guidelines and if they can't up hold their end of the bargain, I'm sure there are more athletic guys in Cincinnati and Detroit that we have phone numbers for and good luck acting a fool in the real world.
To even suggest that we have not progressed as a program by simply hiring Louis Orr is just completely unthinkable. We have no business judging his first three years other to say "we are sorry that we let the nonsense before you continue on for as long as it did."

Well put, Option. We need to give the man a chance to get his players in his system. He didn't succeed at Seton Hall based on luck...Coach Orr knows the game and will mold his team but it will take time. I will be patient knowing better days are ahead!OptionQB wrote:To even come close to drawing comparisons between Coach Orr and Dakich is laughable at best.
