Why would that be being sold? I'd hold onto that forever...or donate it to Mickey Cochrane.

This might be a very sad story.

There couldn't have been that many rings. I wonder if we could figure out whose this is?

Did someone from that team pass away recently?

I hope there isn't a Cecil Fielder story behind this.

looks like the seller go the ring second hand as this person sells alot of items on Ebay.

what bugs me about it is that it's being sold from Pemberville, but the description of the ring is almost in pure monetary terms. Cost of the gold, size of the diamond, etc... I know that not everyone has as dear of ties to BG as those of us on this board, but you'd think that even if they did want to make money off it, they'd include some historical context. I wonder if they ever even contacted the University about it?

The description says that he purchased it from an estate, so he may very well know to whom this ring originally belonged. It's not necessarily a player, no?

Right. It could have been a waterboy or a secretary, though "size 8 to 10" most likely puts it in the range of a college-aged man.
