In all fairness, he isn't the first person I've heard make similar comments. However, your point is well seen.

I can see where he was coming from in calling them crappy, though. I have family that have graduated from OSU, none recently, and all of them have said that OSU's education school, at least in the undergrad level, is where students go when they drop out of another program at OSU. Apparently that has changed, but that has been the reputation there.

I'm glad that this thread got back to the original conversation...well, except for the posts by our friend Tekekini.

I was an OSU fan when I was younger. However, unlike most people on here, my reasons for turning on them had little to do with football.

I went to BGSU because it had the best program in Ohio for what I wanted to study. At the very least, their program was on par with one or two other programs as the best, neither or which was OSU. Anybody in my field, not located in Columbus, will tell you the same thing. Then, I joined the National Guard. For six years, I went down to Columbus and got treated like I was getting an inferior education because I didn't go to OSU. Truth was, I didn't even consider going to OSU.

I wasn't the only guy in my guard unit who turned on them. Almost every member of my unit, who didn't go to OSU, did the same thing. They KSU guys, the Akron guys, the UT guys......almost all of them.

I have found that, for the most part, it isn't the OSU Alumni who are the problem. I've also found that, for the most part, the true OSU fans are not the problem either. It is the students (who are caught up in the Columbus hype) and the bandwagoners (like Tekekini). Their arrogance goes beyond football. They think that OSU is the best at everything, even when it is not.

That is why I hate OSU, and refuse to root for them under any circumstances. And for the record, I am not a Michigan fan. I have never been a Michigan fan. I never will be a Michigan fan. The only exceptions to this rule are the days that Michigan plays OSU. And people can say all they want about Michigan being just as bad. I trust my own experiences, and I've spent plenty of time at U of M as well. I just don't see it.

There are bonehead fans everywhere. They exist for every school/team. They just don't exist in the quantity that they do for OSU.

The reason why I make the accusation is due to the way that he talks about OSU. You can tell that his motivation for being an OSU fan is due to the hype centered around them. He doesn't talk about OSU as though he has been this childhood fan that roots for them through and through. He talks about them as though they are superior to everybody else.

If their football team posted a few 6-6 seasons, we would probably never hear from him again.

This isn't to spawn some sort of discussion about how that would never happen. It is to make the point that if it did, he his scarlet and gray blood would run dry.

I have been going to OSU games with my dad (season ticket holder) since I was 6 or 7 which is when I started paying attention to football and knew what it was about. I have been there for the 6-6 years and the 7-5 years. They were the Frye and Herbie years and a little bit of Bellissari some years down the road. I never bailed after losing to UM so many times.

damn, 2002 was the first year in my lifetime they had played for a championship and I was a fan WAY before that. I grew up 40 minutes from campus. I have been right in the thick of it since birth.

I HAVE mentioned this before and I guess I will mention it again. I went to undegrad at BG because of the smaller class sizes..I prefer to learn in the small class environment. The professors are more available to you in that setting. That is the only reason. No other.

I can do the OSU graduate program because I can do it at night. After work.

I never said I had a huge house. I only said I had a house a nice 1100 square foot, 2 bedroom 1.5 bath house. Hardly huge. 60Kis not a lot. 100,00 income is a lot. 60 is average.
