People have actually asked me if it stands for "BG Surfing" - yeah, like we have a lot of that around here.

Actually, BGSUFN started as my NTN trivia name at BW3 :D

I think if you get the BGSU plate it limits you to 6 characters, and Grant wanted 7 :)

You're exactly right. I had the uni plates for 4 years I think with REDTDI on them, but to get the combo of characters I wanted, I had to forego the Falcon plates this go round.

Not sure about MSU...but this Illini fan did that:

A recent Illinois graduate moved to Dearborn, Michigan for a job.

She had an apartment with a Michigan address, and she winced whenever she looked at her Michigan driver's license. When it came time to register her vehicle she had an idea. She'd get personalized plates and make things right.

The personalized license plate for her car arrived, and she beamed as she installed them. She was so proud she sent an instant message to her father right away.

He too was a proud Illinois alumnus.

'Daddy,' she typed. 'I'm so excited! I got new, personalized plates for my car today. They're University of Michigan plates!'

'WHAT?' he replied. 'You have to be joking!'

'Nope, I'm totally serious. Let me send you the image.' Her father couldn't stop laughing after he viewed the picture of her car:

Actually I think that's the one- someone told me it was a Spartan fan's car. Who knows? Great idea though.

Always the journalist ... :P

Actually, we stopped putting the registration stickers on the plates about 7 years ago. In Philly, the bad guys will simply cut the corner off your plate so they can resell and/or use it on another car. Happened to Mrs. 87 just after we got married.

Don't know if it is still available, but "BEAT UT" was not taken. You could get it with the BG plates. Just don't want to drive around UT. Or use "BEET UT". Of course, I also think "BEAT BG" was also available. I tried to get my sister, who is a UT grad to go along with me and she would get the UT plate and I would get the BG version, but she didn't want to bite. Got the idea from someone with an OSU plate that drives around Columbus with a "BEAT UM" plate.
