Sadly, it's so true and actually funny to a point, especially when you consider some of the very few seniors we've actually had graduate in recent years were JUCO's.

Wins this year are just little bonus prizes to make us all feel warm and fuzzy inside. Once Orr has his players and his system in place, then we can start evaluating this program.

Please, no more "Madlocks" that come in and don't play at all and don't redshirt. Not liking that kind of "system" that's currently in place. I would feel "warm" and "fuzzy" if our first recruit wasn't wasting away a year's eligibility on the bench.

Why not get Madlock some playing time if wins aren't important? Don't pull a "John Cooper" and play seniors because you feel you need to win few more games this year.
I don't think he'll be playing too many seniors :-D

That having been said, I totally agree with you. I would rather see guys like Madlock and Matt Karaffa get some PT this year, even if it means sacrificing a win here or there.

Karaffa? This kid is a walk on, he's lucky to have a jersey, lets not get too crazy

I'm just sayin, we're not going anywhere this year anyway, so why not give the kid a chance? As for Madlock, there's probably a reason he was still available in the spring of his senior year of high school. Hopefully he will pan out, but it kinda makes you wonder why no one had signed him before then.

New coaches get a late start recruiting. Usually they end up with projects that no one else wanted to take a chance on for academic or ability reasons. When Jay Eck took oveer at UT he got Tyke Branch, who ended up getting shot over a dice game in his home town, and Keith Wade who went on to be one of the all-time best point guards in UT history. So sometimes you get lucky.

Mr. Madlock may turn out to be a solid inside guy for BG or he may be a stiff who gets some minutes as a senior. At any rate you can hardly judge Orr's recruiting by Madlock and you can't fault him for not blowing the kid's confidence by sticking him in when he's overmatched. I'm guessing Orr probably knows a little bit about coaching and is probably doing the right thing.

I'd like to see Madlock get some playing time, but I'm sure there is a good reason why he's not getting many minutes. Last year's recruiting class is no way to judge coach Orr. Nor is the record with this group of players.

There just isn't much talent on this team. I think the system is sound and I like the style of hoops we're trying to play, but time will tell if Orr can get some talent in here to play in it.
