WE BEAT ONE TEAM WITH A WINNING RECORD - THAT TEAM WAS 6-5

Post by bgou »

I love BG bit we have been deluded. We beat up on the worst 15 teams in 1A and have been shown up by anyone else.

I know I will get beat up by all of the frequent posters but we were undressed tonoght. I this weren't the weirdest season in history, we wouldn't even be considered for a bowl.

Beckman can leave anytime he wants.

Frustrated.

You are absolutely right about not beating anyone better than an above average high school team, but I disagree with the Beckman comment. Coach Studrawa is a really nice guy, but a lousy OC. The offense tonight was not the same as I have seen for the last 2 months. Even in the first half, the playcalling was bizarre and mostly ineffective when we got down near the red zone. Momentum is everything in college football. When the crowd gets into the game and the other team gets one good play to turn things, it is really tough to reverse. The defense just ran into a buzzsaw in the second half and the lack of size up front obviously hurt us in the second half. Congratulations to UT, you deserved the win much more than we did.

No, Beckman had a lot to do with the meltdown. I can count on one hand the number of blitz's we ran in the second half. We were all over Gradkowski in the first half which led to two INT's. Nothing of the sort in the second. Tell our DB's to stop looking in the backfield.. ie Jelani Jordan staring for 4 seconds while Moore runs around him on the 4th down when Gradkowski had a straight drop, no hint of a run. Arg. Gotta stop the run somehow too.

Give credit to Toledo. They are a good football team and they didn't quit. We have to learn to handle adversity better, especially on the road.

We played a great half of aggressive football. We let UT come out and dictate the tempo in the second half. We didn't execute as well and we didn't play with the same ferocity.

A great team ready toassert themselves as the conference's new power would have put the Rockettes away in the third qtr. We didn't get that job done.

And you people wouldn't listen when I tried to tell you before that you just beat up on total pukes and think that you're ready to play for a freakin NC. Then you play a halfway decent team and get stomped!!! All that smack you talked when I was telling you the truth and now you finally accepted the truth. If any of you had any guts you'd be telling me you were sorry for mouthing off when I knew what I was talking about.

A few points ...

It saddens me that the majority of Sooner fans have treated us with such class and respect and that goodwill is offset by a few others.

In regard to the second half ... I said it numerous times, the game would come down to who garnered - and kept control of - the momentum. Even though BG had a nice lead in the second quarter, they never seemed to put their foot on Toodaleedoo's throat. Thus, UT grabbed the momentum and, thus, the game. Rivalry games very often come down to momentum. We couldn't - or at least didn't - control it.

I don't know who CaliSooner is, but he does not represent the Sooner nation. Quite frankly he is an embarrassment. It is OK to critique and analyze, but enough with the putdowns. BG is a good team. They just haven't learned how to win road games against quality opponants.

Hopefully, in the future Brandon will realize that defense wins championships. Until BG learns how to adjust and defend they will continue to be a good, but not great team.

Dr. Sooner:

Well put. As I've said, your fans have overwhelmingly carried themselves with dignity and class on these boards and we've enjoyed having you all here!

I don't think its fair to bring that up. We play hard games ooc and face it those teams have bigger and better programs than we do so we will probably lose those games. That being said most of our wins come in conf. and with toledo and niu in the same side one of the 3 every year is going to be put in our position. Toledo's only wins over teams with a over 500 record were bg (at home) and niu( who they own won last 10 games). NIU only beat bg (at home) and akron (at home). I just don't think that that point is very fair when you take in to account that the three teams will beat up on the others untill they bring their play up a step, and our ooc games are teams like Purdue, OSU, OU, AND WISCONSIN on the road.
