Watching this game reminded me of the BP, Keith, Cowboy and Matela days. The stat that stuck out to me was 13 steals. Now that shows who wanted to win more.

This game should serve as a nice confidence booster. This team is finally shedding some of the baggage left over from the Dakich era (and I'm not bashing DD, he just has a different style).

Lastly, Otis Polk is on his way of achieving cult status at BG.

WE WANTED IT MORE!!!

We weren't the more talented team, nor were the more athletic team, but we were the team with the bigger heart tonight. Diving for loose balls, tipping rebounds out, taking charges... you could tell they wanted it!

You've pegged something really important, Den... Something JimmyZ, Hammb and myself all commented on yesterday... You know what? We BOX OUT!!! I mean, we actually get our butts into the other guy and hold them back. It's a thing of beauty!!

Yeah, we just totally forgot how to do that when Bubba Walther gets 2 chances to shoot late second 3's. But I'm sure Orr will point this out to the players in film sessions.

BG actually played a much better game than OU than the score indicated. Simply put, the score was close because OU played badly and we just missed way too many makeable shots. BG's defense was extremely disruptive to OU's half court sets, especially in the 2nd half. OU failed to establish any continuity in their guards consistently failed to feed the post. We forced a lot of turnovers and got a lot of steals. We hustled after loose balls and long rebounds. We blocked 5 shots.

To our great relief, OP has been able to stay on the floor against two successive GOOD opponents. His presence on the floor changes the the profile of our team. We out rebounded OU by 6. That's a very strong statement.

Larson provided steady, blue collar production on defense. (Unfortunately, he fumbled to beautiful interior feeds from Knight that should have been easy baskets.)

Other thoughts:

When Jakubowski adds needed upper body strength, he will be among the most effective guards in our conference.

OU's Michael Allen is one of the fastest guys I've seen in the MAC in years. Thank God he doesn't shoot well!

OU's performance yesterday strongly reinforced my concern about coach O'Shea. TOS's teams have never looked well coached. His players never seems to play well as a team. Recruiting-wise, he's gotten lucky with Williams and Tillman. I'm having serious doubts about TOS ever being able to but good teams on the floor the Charlie Coles does.

Something happened to Coles' team Saturday at Akron. All I've heard about is Miami's tough nonconference schedule. Is someone hurt?

BG really played their hearts. They outhustled and outplayed OU. It woulda been a shame if we lost. I think slowing down the game on offense and using all 35 seconds of the shot clock was key. It stopped Ohio's fast break attack and slowed down their athleticism. Great job by the coaching staff and players. At Kent State will be a tough, tough test. If we can pull that out, we may just have something here.

I made the trip to the game on Saturday, so can I take the credit? OU was horrible. They are a much better team than that, but I gotta' give some credit to BG's defense and the coachs' game plan.

Joe Jack was great. Knight was as advertised. And even though all of Otis' shots were rimming out , he played soled defense (against a very good Ohio frontcourt) without getting into foul trouble. And he was husteling his tail off. Freshman, freshman and sophmore. I like it!

I sat about 2 rows behind you, Falconboy. I was going to say hello but my wife, an OU grad, was a little cranky. Next time.

Great game!

Gotta go - GMAC kickoff!

In that case, you were about 2 rows in FRONT of me, Mrs. ZiggyZoomba, JimmyZ and Hammb... and 3 rows in front of the Tech83 family. We all need name tags!! ;-)

No Kiddin'. I try to make one game a year. But with that game I gotta make it back at least one more time (if I don't jump off the house after this GMAC game).

I also forgot to say Nate Miller was prue stones.

If you come to another game go the same area as you sat last time (apparently)

We'll be about 3-4 rows behind you, just start randomly introducing yourself to people behind you, you'll find us :)
