Vandermeer and our lineup

Post by Germainfitch1 »

The MAC can be easily domianted by big men. And it seems that we have a very good one in Freshman Vandermeer. Very shortly I expect him to be in the lineup next to Ahlmanson, a change that will make both players better. Ahlmie next to the 6-11 tower will bring back images of the ball State Lonnie Jones Theron Smith days. I love our team this year and here is my breakdown of how i thinkt he starting lineup should go....

PG-Perrick Robinson. Frosh. Cat can ball and a young PG is a great rock to build on. In this case starter is used very loosely because a platoon with John Floyd makes the most sense.
PG1A:Floyd. So. Alot of people questioned his ability. i am glad he doesnt. SG-Steven Wright. JR. Can slide upt ot the one if neccessary but should not be. Most likely will be our second and third scorer all season.
SF-John Reimold. SR. Will finish the season as our leading scorer and MVP. He can really shoot and with ahlmie playing well he will ge alot of kick out opportunities.
PF-Josh Ahlmanson. SR. Playing like we all new he could. Leading the team and being aggressive. I dont expect the scoring to keep up but hopefully it will.
C-Scott Vandermeer. FR. Can't deny production and shouldnt deny his size. Last game he had 3 blocks and 7 boards in 17 minutes. Bonafide defensive presence inside that helps Ahlmanson in every way possible.

1st off bench; Germaine Fitch. JR. Absolute team catalyst who should be in at the end of every game even if his height and offensive limitations keep him out early. Next years starter at SF.
2nd: Eyink. SR. Not sure what happened to the player Dakich labeled as all MAC for possibly 3 years but now he is a capable backup with great size off the bench.
3rd:Soler JR. Poor mans Fitch who will tak e awhile to fit in.
4th. Montgomery So. Showed flashes last year.
5th Lefeld: So Will start next year so we need to have him playing as much as possible.

The team

Good post. I think I'm board with you. However, I'm wondering if Wright or Almanson will lead the team in scoring rather than Reimold.

Reimold is getting tons of attention from opposing D's, so he may not lead in scoring. However, your points on Vandermeer are right on. He can play. Coach said on the post-game show that unlike most big men he understood the game and had the brain of a basketball player.

There is no "h" in Almanson.

AND there's no "e" on the end of Germain.

I guess a small number read the thread about the correct spelling of player names...
