Cheap Shots and Classless
The Tulsa coaches and team didn't really care about being gracious winners or good sportsmen. They wanted to make a name for themselves on a national stage.
If we didn't like that, we should have stopped it.
I think I'm going to take the advice of those who made the trip down and take a couple days or so away from the football forum.

Hello? No one is complaining about the score. It is the method used to obtain it that was not befitting a high-class operation.doughash wrote:Put me in the camp that says if you don't want 63 hung on you step up and make some plays. This wasn't an early season money grab on the road against a top 10 team. It was a bowl game where we were a 5 point underdog. Don't put yourself in a position to expect mercy from your opponent. There were some guys for BG out there busting their tails for 60 minutes and some well, I'm going to leave that for others to speculate. Bottom line is a team that considers itself bowl-worthy shouldn't be complaining afterwards about the opponent running up the score. Compete or stay home.
If Tulsa would have run the ball exclusively that last drive like Brandon would have certainly done, they would have likely scored anyway because we had basically given up, and no one would have cared. Instead they decided to throw the ball in pursuit of an individual record that in one week no one will even care about outside of the Tulsa campus.

Every sport has it's code...it's own set of unwritten rules that you play by if you want to play the "right" way. In baseball, you don't hit and run, try to steal, bunt or take a lot of pitches when you're up by a mile. In basketball, you don't run a full court press when you're up by 25 late in the second half.
In football you do not leave your starters in and throw the football into the endzone in the 4th qtr and you don't run a bunch of blitzes when you're up by 40 or 50 points. That's a bullshit move...in baseball Roger Clemens would zip a 95 mph fastball towards your head if you violated the code like that.
Brandon was too nice...I would have brought 7 on every down and told my defense that Mr Smith needs to be on the turf whenever possible. You want the record...great, maybe you can have a nice limp to go with it.

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Fliper youve lost woman. where was the code when we slaughtered teams a few years ago...and when did you ever put a helmet on? The only "code" is that you dont kick a guy in the nuts or squezz his boys in a ball scramble...and my understanding is that even that rule goes out the door in the playoffs and big games...Flipper wrote:Every sport has it's code...it's own set of unwritten rules that you play by if you want to play the "right" way. the only code is what comes around goes around. the team choked and beat themselves. tulsa is still a crappy CUSA bitch, the only thing that changed was they beat us while were busy beathng ourselves. We sucked more than a sucky CUSA team that day...odds of that happening are slim to none but it happened.
Next year we will be back in a bowl some where playing some meaningless game while Cusa tulsa is home having another golden shower...wondering why they thought the BCS was a good idea still....
"Go hit Mr. Smith. You are kidding because you could not touch him all night during the rest of the game."
We certainly could have touched him, especially if we took him out the way Tyler was taken out. Then he would not get all his records and then what would all the Tulsa supporters say? I had to correct my previous post.
