My First Home Brew

Post by The Niz »

Not my idea of the best on the menu but pretty solid for my first attempt.

I think next time I'll give it much less carbonation time.

I like my beer VERY hoppy, and this does not fall into that category. It does, however, have an extremely pleasent caramel maltiness to it. Imagine a Labatt Blue or a Molson but maybe double the malt flavor and a touch more hops and you basically have what I am drinking now.

Pretty satisfied and can't wait for the next batch.

After alll six bottles (1 liter each) being gone I have decided that I am very unsatisfied with how "unhoppy" the brew was. I have begun a second batch, about a week ago, that by my research sould be pretty similar to the Sam Adams Boston Lager.

We should see in about 3 weeks how the next one turns out.

Good luck man! I really need to get off my lazy rear and make some more brew. I just hate the cold so much. I need to stop being a wuss and get out there and make something. I haven't brewed in awhile, and I've mostly been drinking commercial beer for the past few months. Maybe I'll brew an Imperial Stout to be drinkable by St. Paddy's.

I do not have any stout recipes. Guiness is easily one of my fav draughts and stout and porter are my two favorite styles of beer.
