Up Next: BG vs. Buffalo

Post by BGSU33 »

Looking at the MAC schedule, this game against Buffalo definitely goes down as one of those games we’ve got to win. We’re at home, Buffalo is winless on the road at 0-6, and the Bulls have lost five of its last six games. UB is 0-2 in the MAC but has been in both of its games. Andy Robinson leads the team in scoring with just 10.2 ppg but they play a pretty deep and steady rotation of 10 to 11 guys. But the one thing that sticks out in my mind about Buffalo right now is the way we lost to them on the road last year – the infamous “Loss From the Locker Room.” That was one of the strangest and most frustrating ways to lose a game that we “should” have won. Time for a little revenge!

I think BG will be psyched up after their loss to Kent St. and the odds are in their favor. I'm guessing it will be 52-38 Falcons.

I hope so and I hope that Chris Knight can get the ball on the post a little this game. His wide open on the baseline and our guys can't seem to get him the ball. Thus justifying his lack of aggressiveness offensively that some of us have been talking about in other threads.

Knight and Moten both are physically talented guys. However, both lack a certain basketball skill/instinct that often goes unnoticed but is very important: moving without the ball. Sometimes it seems like they're spectators if they don't have the ball. They don't do a lot on the weak side, nor do they tend to get the long rebounds that other players seem to get (Wright, Hamblet). They don't seem to get open for shots as much as their talents suggests that they should. That's just my .02$

Great points 33. This a game we must win. It's a home game against a divisional foe. It's still early in the conference schedule so a loss isn't the end of the world. But winning the games you should win is what will seperate this from being a medicore season to a good one. Win this game, get on a roll, beat up on some of the poorer west division teams, and see if we can finish 2 or 3 in the division. I'm really looking forward to this game Thursday night at AA. It's been awhile since I've said that, but after their performance and effort at the OU game a week or so back I've gotten a little excited about BG Basketball again.

This season there are no "must win" games, IMO.

Every game is a must win, if it's not what are you playing for? The goal for any team in any league at any level should be to win them all.

Well, yeah, but I think what ZZ means is that no game is "must win or the other foot comes off the bridge" with this team.

I'd like to see us at least win or be competitive in the home games to give ourselves a shot down the stretch, but most importantly, I want to see improvement game to game, which I think we're starting to see a bunch on an individual level the past couple weeks.

Buffalo's starting center Vadim Fedotov is out for the BG game and will miss the remainder of the season. He tore his ACL against Akron in UB's last game.

The goal should always be to win. Yes...

However, this season, there are far more important "must" things than W's. This team can still get better and continue improving w/o winning every game. I want an improved program and a constantly improving program more than I want Ws at this point.

That's why I don't think there are any "must win" games.

I agree with his Honor, the Wizard.

I thought BG played hard at Kent...not their best game but the effort was there. Thru hard work, this team and program will improve. Once Coach Orr gets his recruits here, it should be awfully fun to watch.

Heck, with the current team, it was fun the other night even though we lost. Again, the effor was there...Kent is just a better team. Wins are nice but I don't think BG's final record will matter this year.

How about we just get hot and win 3 or 4 in March? :-D

With Marschall being out...things may be just about even, heh? We know all about injuries.

There are just tooooo many torn ACLs in basketball. It's a devastating injury that we all know too well is very hard to come back from. In really bad cases, the victim can't run/walk right after recovery. I wish to God that there was some way to prevent this injury.
