Falcons fall
Between keeping a similar margin all game long with Kent after falling short one game after beating Ohio, I really think this team can be very competitive in the MAC, as those two teams were in most people's top few in the conference for this year. We'll see, but I really think the team is much better than the last half of non-conference play showed them to be.

It was a great highlight...Polk seems to be able to control himself better this year. He isn't falling for silly fakes and keeping his hands straight up. His shot blocking is great to watch.Falconboy wrote:That was probably the highlight of the game for us. I would've loved to have seen that though.BleedOrange wrote:There was one particularly funny sequence in the game. Brandon Parks, a 6-10, 400lb slobering doofus freshmen for Kent got the ball in the low post against Otis. Parks attempted a shot that Otis promptly blocked. Seconds later, a loose ball was picked up 35 feet away and fed back in to Parks whose shot attempt was again blocked by Polk. BG ended up with the ball.

He is much better this year....he is a perfect example of how to win in the MAC. Take a chance on a project every year or two you never know how they'll turn out for sure but there is always the chance to be really good. He is only a Soph. and has plenty of more time to grow, pair him with someone next year and you have a legit 1-2 punch.Falconfreak90 wrote:It was a great highlight...Polk seems to be able to control himself better this year. I'm one of the biggest Polk fans you'll find, but I'm still going to withhold judgement a bit. Fact is going into the Duquesne game we were all saying that OP hadn't progressed at all and was still having the same mental lapses. The last 3 games have been a vast turnaround, and I hope it's here to stay, but it's going to take more than 3 games before I'm totally convinced.Falconfreak90 wrote:It was a great highlight...Polk seems to be able to control himself better this year. Still, he's put together a nice little 3 game stretch, hopefully this is more indicative of his future than the first 10 or so games of the year were.

Things are shaping up much the same way G mentioned to me earlier this year: We may see flashes of good early on (UC win) and we will improve over the year (OU win) but we really won't see the true potential of this team until the M.A.C. tourney. Around tourney time we might start seeing the really exciting things this team is capable of.
I think Otis' progression lately is evidence that we are moving forward. After all, he couldn't even stay on the floor earlier this year.
