CCHA Director of Officials:
Steve Piotrowski

CCHA Phone Number:

I'm not saying you should, I'm not saying you shouldn't, but here's the public information if you feel like voicing your concerns about this past weekend.

Please note that only the coaches may ask for a game review.

Pi has always been such a big fan of BG....

I do hope Paluch asks for a review of the refereeing on Friday. It was terrible....and ugly......AND TERRIBLY UGLY!!!!

Pi was one of if not THE best official for many many years. it's great that he is now the head of our league. His integrity SHOULD NOT EVER be questioned.

NOT EVER? EVERYONE is entitled to their opinion and I was making a sarcastic comment based on many years (I'm old, remember? ) of watching Pi's games....both good and bad. Sorry, guess we'll have to disagree on this one. I have watched him ref many good games and some VERY inconsistent games! I'm not saying he was our worst ref, he wasn't by far; most of his games were good. He did however, seem to have it in for players like Matt Eldred and Matt Ruchty and threw them in the box every chance he got. Some games just seemed a little biased toward the Michigan teams back in the day...and this is MY opinion and mine only!!! :smt110

I've seen some horrible games from him. Very horrible. Best ref? Hardly.

That being said, Paluch definitely needs to ask for the game to be reviewed. Like I said in the game thread, Kai got three extra games for a hit during normal play. He didn't go out specifically after the kid. Western admitted to the media, actually sounded eager to tell the media, that they went after Geelan. There shouldn't have to be a request for review for that. It's in the media in open view. That is not part of college hockey. College hockey has purposely separated itself from that kind of play. It is now a game of skill, not brute force. Look at the officiating "focus" every year. Every year they say they are going to crack down on obstruction. Open the game up and let the skilled players showcase what they have. The "enforcer" role has been greatly diminished, almost eliminated. As much as I hate to admit it, there is no place in college hockey for fighting anymore. If you want to do/see that stuff, go to the OHL.

Geelan's slash was no where near what was happening around Cepis right in front of the ref. It doesn't matter if a guy is 5'6" or 6'5", grabbing the guy by the neck should be a penalty. Not to mention the numerous hooks, slashes, etc. It was very obvious that Western's plan for defending Cepis was smother, smother, smother.

I wouldn't say it's only your opinion. I share the same one. I know other people do also.

Here is the problem with asking for a review. Who does Western play next week? Ferris I believe, and if so, it would be in OUR best interest for WMU to get as many points as possible, thus we want WMU to be at full strength.
So..................should we or shouldn't we send the tapes. You make the choice!

Send the tapes. Hoping for someone else to guide your destiny means you don't deserve your success.

They should send the tapes. I'm not asking for more suspensions, just asking to have the ref's job performance reviewed, as all bosses should be doing. If you aren't doing your job well, then your boss needs to work with you to improve it. If you don't improve, you shouldn't be doing that job. The ref's job is to protect the players on BOTH TEAMS, by keeping control of the game and not letting stupid stuff get out of hand like he did Friday night! A job performance review is all I am asking for. This would have no effect on Western's next games, but might keep this crap from happening in future games!

Though I do have to say I've enjoyed spending the past week asking Colts fans if Peyton is well-rested enough for the playoffs.

We are three points ahead of Ferris. We've played the same number of games. Ferris has 2 games to play against WMU, LSSU, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, and us. We have 2 games to play against Ferris, Notre Dame, OSU, Alaska, UNO, and MSU. There is no way they should get more points out of their remaining schedule than we should. There is no way we should be thinking like that.

One thing to think about is there is a very real chance we could play Western in the playoffs. If the season ended today, we would host LSSU in the first round. There is a good chance that we will pass UNO in the standings. If we do that, we'll probably host Western. If a player or players receive extra games for this, they'll think twice about starting crap if we have to play again.
