That's what I was thinking. Perhaps it was Cole asking what are the chances of us going to Hawaii (or another particular bowl). In which case, maybe Northwestern-Hawaii is key.falconman wrote:My guess was mossmaidi caught the tail end of the convo, and just heard something about a bowl game. Possibly Brandon was talking about the Hawaii Bowl.

I think Cole is just anti-contiguous 48 states.Schadenfreude wrote: That's what I was thinking. Perhaps it was Cole asking what are the chances of us going to Hawaii (or another particular bowl). In which case, maybe Northwestern-Hawaii is key.
Incidentally, when I double checked the spelling of "contiguous", I found this:

Pretty cool for you US History buffs. Or maybe its just the 3:15 beers talking...
Either way, the way this conversation is going about bowl games, I REALLY hope we're not on the bubble for an NCAA hoops bid!!! Heads could explode!!!

Riiiight.... but if Hawaii would have lost, that would have cleared a spot in the Hawaii Bowl.BelieveNBG wrote:If NW loses, the Big 10 is short one team for a bowl game. This means an additional at-large bid. The more at-large bids that need to be filled, the better off we are.
On a related note...NW is losing at the half 28 - 20.
Go Hawaii!!!
It looks to me like the Motor City will take a Big East team. Maybe the Hawaii Bowl makes a conditional offer: To Hawaii (if they beat Michigan State) or to Akron or Marshall (if Hawaii loses). Some are projecting Alabama-Birmingham as the other team in that bowl.
I don't think we will be stuck waiting for the result of the Hawaii-Northwestern game. I also don't think a bowl game will wait to see if Tulane can beat Louisville. That's a long shot.
Hopefully, we'll find something out soon.

The Hawaii Bowl is Conference USA versus WAC. The Conference USA end will be filled no matter what, and I think the Hawaii Bowl gets third pick (after the GMAC). I would imagine they would grab a team now on that end.orangeandbrown wrote:Schad--I don't think they'll wait to give us an invite for those games, but my guess is Tulane is much more attractive than Akron, and they might make them wait until after Tulane-Louisville.
In other words, the Tulane-Louisville game seems irrelevant to the Hawaii Bowl. They can do better than Tulane on one end, and they aren't going to pick two CUSA teams.
My rumination on the conditional offer referred to the WAC side of the bowl.
So many games went our way Saturday that I'm thinking something else may have opened up for Bowling Green on the mainland.
That's why I'm thinking the Hawaii Bowl would hope for Hawaii to win... or settle for Akron or Marshall.
I might be way off.
You think Bowling Green is being considered by the Hawaii Bowl?
