I caught the second half of the game because I had class until 8pm. I thought the officiating was all-around terrible and we just seem out of sync on offense. However, at the same time, I have to give Miami credit. They played disruptive defense and helped force some of our bad shots and turnovers.
If I'm Ball State though....I'm pretty worried, because we're going to be fired up for our next game after this loss. I fully expect this team to bounce back and smoke Ball State.

We've got to expect nights like this from a team this young. To only make 21 of 60 shots and still be in the game is almost a good sign. They beat Buffalo with only one three pointer and thirteen turnovers from the starting guards. It's probably beneficial to have a wake-up call game to refocus everyone to concentrate on the fundamentals.

We found out we have some growing to do. Miami was very focused and teams in the MAC are getting tired of losing to BGSU. Kate having a cracked tailbone is not good at all. I believe this will be a great learning experience for our younger players. Obviously we have a bulls eye on our back every night. We're gonna have to bring our A game every night. We didn't shoot well and Miami played excellent D. Give the Redhawks credit for winning in our house. We will get another shot at them down the road.
For now, I hope Kate will be able to go with that cracked tailbone because we absolutely need her. Get after Ball State!!
On a side note, I watched some of the DePaul/ND game last night on CSTV. DePaul pulled out an 81-80 win over the Irish in South Bend.

She came down pretty hard during the Buffalo game, and was icing her back in the 2nd half. I figure that must be the source.BGFalconfromCincy wrote:I heard it, its KateClass of 61 wrote:Couldn't hear the question, but he mentioned that SOMEONE is playing with a CRACKED TAILBONE but there's "nothing they can do but keep her as pain free and comfortable as possible...anyone know who he's referring to? Said she played a lot of minutes...and Kate only scored six...hopefully, it's not her as she'd be a big loss in the leadership end of things to say the least.

Agree completely. The coaching staff will use this loss as another teaching point.JoeFalcon wrote:We've got to expect nights like this from a team this young. As far as Kate, if rest will make her completely healthy, I'd sit her as long as it takes. Of course Kate won't stand for that, but we need her healthy for the tourney. I hope she heals quickly either way.

that type of injury is strange because she won't hurt herself any more by playing and it won't heal any faster by not playing. It all boils down to her ability to withstand pain which we all know is high. She should be fine by the 2nd week of March......or earlier.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:

Cool - hopefully you're correct in your estimate and she'll be 100% for the MACC.bgwomenbbfan wrote:that type of injury is strange because she won't hurt herself any more by playing and it won't heal any faster by not playing. Kate's a warrior, but this will no doubt limit her productivity. Pontius needs to grow up fast.

Thinking the same thing. As horribly as we played 20 TO's bad shooting (especially down lowJoeFalcon wrote:We've got to expect nights like this from a team this young. Ball St. is so unlucky to be our next opponent.

I had that injury back in....well, MANY years ago when I played. It hurt like the dickens for about 4 weeks and then 1 morning, I woke up and didn't feel a thing. I had a decent ability to deal with pain but I consider myself a total wimp compared to Kate so that is why I think she'll be ok. To be honest, moving around was much more comfortable than sitting when I had this particular injury.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:Cool - hopefully you're correct in your estimate and she'll be 100% for the MACC.bgwomenbbfan wrote:that type of injury is strange because she won't hurt herself any more by playing and it won't heal any faster by not playing.
