Impressive Win

Post by BGSU Crazy Fan 58 »

BG Beats Miami 55-52! After Miami got up 12-2 at the beginning of the game I thought we were gonna get run out of our own gym. But BG tightened up big time on defense, allowing only 4 points over the last 8 mins or so. Marc Larson had a good game and responded to some of the heat he took on here in another thread. Free throw shooting was vastly improved over the akron (although Knight missed the front end of a key one and one). Great play call by Coach Orr on our last offensive position. Miller drove to the basket, attracted 3 defenders and found a wide open Chris Knight who calmly knocked down the shot. 3-2 in the MAC and in third place. Our 2 loses were both on the road to probably the 2 best teams in the MAC. I am very impressed with this win over MU and our start to the conference schedule. Great Job Tonight Falcons!

I agree. Getting the win was huge for this team and listening to the game it sounded like they played much better. BTW< Ohio beat Buffalo and Kent State knocked off Akron so the Falcons are just a game out of first. :-D

Akron had a 35-25 halftime lead and KSU outscored the Zips 50-34 to win 75-69.

My only disappointment was that Otis didn't rip the Jesus Twin's head off and crap down his neck. I guess realistically it is a lot to ask to decapitate someone then pretty much crap on command all while playing a physical basketball game. I guy can still hope, though. I was happy when Larson made the Jesus Twin eat one.

Larson=2 Boards?

Post by cph2133 »

Not to complain, huge win for the Falcons. Checking the stats because i was unable to attend the, Larson with only 2 rebounds? Was he just doing a great job of boxing out and letting other players get the ball, or is he that weak of a rebounder? Just wondering

Don't know about that but he had a couple of big time blocked shots. He played well in the post, I thought. He's definitely getting the most out of his ability in my opinion.

Was it just me, or is that the least talented Miami team you have seen in many years? There are certainly no Ron Harpers on that team!! On the other side o fthe coin, Charlie gets about as much out of what talent he has, as any coach in America.
Just another observation, that if it wasn't for the Ottawa people that showed up to see the twins, there was NO one from Miami at the game, not even all of the BG residents that are Miami alums!!

Good win BG! A big part of the MAC is taking care of your home court. We've definitely done that so far, and got two of the toughest road games out of the way. (The trip to Athens will be a toughie, and now Miami(OH) will have their feathers ruffled when we head to Oxford.) Lets get the road woes straightened out and keep building to March!

Keep in mind that Miami is playing without Michael Bramos right now. This was the second game in a row he has missed with an ankle injury.

Its wierd but I saw them earlier in the year and I thought they were going to be great. But like you said I am not sure why. Pollitz looked great when I saw him but it was a slow fundamental great. Like he is an incredible basketball player without being a good athlete. I saw the Xavier game, which Miami won.

I was there with seven other people in the Huntington Bank seats and six of the eight were Miami(OH) fans. It was fun to see them go nuts when they blew their big lead. Two of the guys had cash on the game, so I felt bad... but then again, I'll take the win :lol:

The Pollitz I saw last year was one of the best athletes on the floor at The MAC Tournament. Consistently got off shots over taller opponents, outran guys down the floor, blocked shots and had, obviously, some awesome hand-eye coordination. What happened? Sounds like maybe he's altered his game to match the talent, or lack of, the rest of the team has. Cuz there's not much question the guy's an athlete.

Is it just me or did Pollitz (#50) look a lot bigger than he has in the past, like he really bulked up?

Most impressive to me is the fact that we relinquished the lead at one point in the 2nd half but didn't put our heads down...they got right back up on their next trip down the floor and never let the lead go again. The second most impressive thing was the fact that they overcame an 11 point defecit and had the lead at half time...they were down 15-4 and went into the locker room on top. Good job Coach...one more MAC win and you've earned your paycheck.
