Amen Justin. That is exactly what I am talking about.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:Moving people to account for need is all well and good. It just seems that we do it so often it speaks to deficiencies in recruiting planning and talent evaluation. Everybody recruits athletes and then finds positions for them to contribute. I don't think everybody moves established players around as often or as many times per individual as we do. I don't feel like a lot of our players really ever get the chance to contribute or fulfill their potential because they are always learning a new position for one reason or another. That forces them to think instead of play, and it contributes to what looks like a slow team with fast players.

Shucks, factman, us "old guys" gotta remember SOME things once in awhile!factman wrote:"61" wins the trivia prize by naming Joe Green! Now that I think about it, I believe he then played safety for the NY Giants in the NFL!He was also an all conference wrestler if my memory serves me correctly!

It is difficult for a team like BG to field a complete team. Most mid-majors tend to specialize on one area of the ball. BG chooses offense, and they hope to outscore their opponents. While I agree I had taking anyone of size off the d-line, I know Brandon hopes to win with his offense. Recruiting is really a crapshoot, and we hope to land a few studs here and there. For the most part our philosophy should be to go after the best atheletes we can get. Maybe we will catch lightning in a bottle on defense sometime soon.

I beg to differ. Toledo in recent years has had some good all around teams, as did Miami when Big Ben was there. In 2003 our defense was pretty stout as well, however it started to tail off after that and became what it is now.daspollak wrote:It is difficult for a team like BG to field a complete team.
