New Recruit / Glenville HS

Post by Class of 61 »

Don't know if anyone has noticed, but BG has a commit from Winston Etheridge III from Glenville HS in Cleve., according to today's PD... He's a DT, 6'3", 254lbs.
According to the article, he liked BG's campus the minute he stepped onto it in the Spring; I'm assuming this must've been part of Ted Ginn's college tour program.
Another quote , "I have a very good chance of coming in as a true freshman and contributing because BG is graduating a number of D linemen. They told me they want me to play DT, but I could see some action at DE".
My only question arose when he indicated he planned to major in ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING. Not sure how that part of thing will work out.

Nice find Class of 61.

The article ( http://tinyurl.com/ys2vky ) said he picked BG over Ball State and Toledo. It's always nice to beat the Rockets, but especially so in inner-city Cleveland. UT recruiter Chris Hedden has had a vice grip on that area for years. Glenville has an excellent program and turns out a number of D-I kids every year.

At 6'3", he looks like he has the frame to add some weight if defensive tackle is in his future.

He certainly has the size to play DE right away. Nice to get a Glenville kid. I was hoping some recruiting news would pick up soon as it near signing day and news has been rather slow for this time of year. How many schollies do we have to give out? If you believe Scout they have us at 8 commits. The two Middletown O-lineman, Tim German , Mark Stevens, CB Lane Robilotto , CB Norman Young , WR DeMark Jenkins and QB/Athlete Keith Morgan.

Won't he be surprised. I suspect that UT didn't have any real use for him since we stopped playing defense a couple years ago.

Well done, H2O. Great to hear, Den! I was getting tired of Glenville kids going elsewhere and it's great to land a player of his caliber.

Signing Day is so close! :D

Maybe BG is adding an engineering program? I just read Ryan Autullo's blog on the Blade's website and it says basketball recruit Austin Calhoun is going to major in mechinical engineering. :? Or maybe that merger with UT is going to happen sooner than we all think.

Then they'll have to change all the signs when the rename MCO AGAIN.

The Bowling Green State University at Toledo Medical Center perhaps?
Finally a senior!

Ten out of eleven from the great state of Ohio. Wondering what happened to our Florida/Georgia/rest of southern states pipeline? Not complaining, just curious.

SicSic,
You might recall that LAST year, we hardly touched the State of Ohio, nor did quite a few of the other MAC schools...after OSU took the "Cream", not a heck of a lot was left...but word was then that THIS year would be a good recruiting year for Ohio...and if you hook onto the recruiting sites, you'll see that EMU and Ball St. in particular, among out of state schools, have come into Ohio HARD this year.
