There is no consistency with regard to number and letter fonts or shoulder striping between the brown, orange and white jerseys. Shouldn't there be one identity for the team? Right now it just looks like a compilation of whatever is available.

A: You are correct on the various points in your email, including the inconsistent look. As indicated in the note, the compilation stems ordering jerseys over time and not maintaining a consistent appearance. This past summer, we ordered new white jerseys. Going forward, as we rotate new home jerseys into the mix, we'll be consistent with what we have in place and use our new marks and font.

New Home Jerseys for '08?
The latest edition of "Ask the AD" has a question about the inconsistent look of our jerseys. Reading into the response it looks like we will be getting new home jerseys similar to the white jerseys.

Dear Mr. Christopher:
Take our "away" jersey. Now, change the jersey color from white to brown. Change the brown strip to white.
The End.
Really, I don't think we need to try too hard here. I love our white jerseys, just make a home version. I think brown is seeing a comeback (see the away basketball jerseys) and that makes a lot of the purists happy once their beloved Falcon outline was phased out.

With all due respect to Niz and all fans of the old outline falcon, I find your sentiments downright hilarious sometimes. "The loss of our beloved falcon much easier to bear?"The Niz wrote:The resurgence of Brown makes the loss of our beloved falcon much easier to bear.
Hell, when they eliminated the outline falcon and replaced with the current "peekaboo" BG Falcon logo, I was absolutely ecstatic to the point where I could have jumped for joy in the middle of downtown BG.

With all due respect, of course...

Niz is due more respect than what you showed in your post. Stating "with all due respect" doesn't give you carte blanche license to act like a dick.
I also completely agree with Niz statement - sorry if that's places a bit of irritation on your private parts, sport.

I like the Brown hoops jerseys a lot. I'm still an orange fan, so I'll always prefer orange as the dominant color, but still the brown jerseys look sharp.
That said, NOTHING will ease the pain of losing the "LT" falcon. That thing is so vastly superior to the new logos in so many ways it's not even funny. I especially like how they get rid of it to "create consistency", when things were perfectly consistent before the stupid new logos showed up. Sure things are going to be inconsistent when you out of the blue add 2 new logos to the mix. Now we still have 2 logos, and they both suck compared to the 1 we used to have...brilliant.

Brown jerseys do it for me. Orange is just not that uncommon in Div 1A. Brown is original.
If "BG" on our helmets helps the odd football commentator understand that Bowling Green means Ohio first, and anywhere else last, then I am happy to set aside the LT falcon. As long as we have to put up with snide jokes about Bowling Green "existing" somewhere in Kentucky, BGSU has a branding problem that needs fixing. I can live with BG on the helmets.

I don't think you're allowed to have solid colored away jerseys are you? I was under the impression that road jerseys had to be light colored versus full colored home jerseys. Maybe I'm wrong. The Niz wrote:Speaking of being original; why the hell can't we have home brown herseys and orange away one's?
I realize you trditionally have white away jerseys, but we are making a habit of screwing over tradition anyways aren't we?
It's weird because in basketball it's the exact opposite.
I'd say one has to be white (or very light) to avoid confusion on the field. Probably just as much of an advantage to your own offense as anything. While BG orange on UT blue might not be confusing, BG orange vs. Miami(OH) red probably would be... especially for those of us in the stands after a few tailgate pops...hammb wrote:I don't think you're allowed to have solid colored away jerseys are you? There is a point in "Doyt Perr: Coach For Life" from the late 1940s. It is a Bowling Green at Miami game with the Redskins in red jerseys and pants and the falcons in orange jerseys and white pants. This is interesting because it shows orange jerseys are older than I first thought and because both teams are in their dark unis!TG1996 wrote:I'd say one has to be white (or very light) to avoid confusion on the field.
