Let me say first that I am not in the least happy that Toledo won a game...I am extremely happy, however, that Kent lost a game!!!

Kudos to TSUN for a great win...thanks for the help!!!

It didn't matter but what a horrible call saying that the Toledo player got fouled on that last basket. The Kent player did not touch him. Unbelievable how much home court means to Toledo. Two different teams--them at home and them on the road. Home court is everything in basketball but they take it to an extreme.

On the downside, Kent had an RPI ranking of 35 going into that game. Kent is/was the only MAC team with bubble potential.

Good point Bleed. I bemoaned Akron's loss to lowly CMU last week because that loss knocked them out of any at-large contention. This loss hurts Kent, but not as bad as Akron's loss last week. Still, it sucks that home court is so valuable in the MAC.

Based on recent times, home field means next to nothing in MAC football, so why exactly is home court in MAC basketball so valuable? It's not like the crowds are big factors most of the time.

I've often wondered that myself, especially with the crowd numbers, not that great. Look no further than our team. We're undefeated at home in MAC play in front of crowds averaging 1300 or so people. Amazing to me.

For whatever reason, as long as I can remember, it's been VERY difficult to win on the road in the MAC.

This year, the MAC v. MAC home winning percentage is considerably higher than last year. I don't know why this is happening. It could be a fluke. It could be that an unbalanced number of match-ups between good MACs v. bad MACs have been at have been at the good MACs' home courts.

I don't have any numbers, but I'd expect the home advantage to be greater in basketball than football. The fans are much closer to the players in basketball.
