Why would he have to challenge the guy next year? That is the point I am making. If we have 1a and 1b as seniors, both able to be redshirted that year. I am not suggesting either be redshirted in 08JoeFalcon wrote:Globetrotter: it's utterly inconceivable that Sheehan would accept a redshirt his senior year. The Macon situation you cite is a completely different animal. He was a junior who had never been an All-MAC player and had not yet even started a game at running back.
You're correct to label it irregular, because I know of no example in the history of college football where a longtime starter lost his position during his senior year, took a redshirt and came back to challenge the same guy who beat him out for that position the next year.
The coaches will play the person who gives us the best chance to win and the rest will sort itself out.
Ryan has all the recruiting info....

OK, you lost me there for a moment, but I think I'm back on track.
You still argue that it would be plausible for Sheehan to redshirt his senior year. I'm still saying there's no way in heck that's ever going to happen and that there's no precedent for such a scenario in the history of college football.

I think it is a rare scenario. Two quality players at the QB position both with a redshirt to give as seniors. One cant start if the other is.JoeFalcon wrote:OK, you lost me there for a moment, but I think I'm back on track.

Usually you come to this situation and the kids have eaten their redshirts so it doesn't happen.
Something being rare doesn't make it not wise.

Nick Tuminello DE Boardman is indeed Chris Tuminello's brother. Chris was an All MAC type player at Toledo. Nick is a versatile athlete- a "winner". Very fine young man also. Humble and very coachable. He may develop into a fine player at BG.
Postings focus on the QB and OL- understandably. Some of those OL kids got late attention from schools like Iowa and Big 12. Of course, early documented interest in Middletown from Illinois. By interest, I mean offers.
I like our DB's. Lane Robilotto looks like a player/excellent student. Early enrollee. Spencer took a long look and walked away from other MAC schools. Marquese Quiles, as I posted somewhere, is a flat out player per folks I hear from in Atlanta. Safety Keith Morgan runs well. Very athletic. JC player looks good on film.

ff1,
Thanks for verifying Nick and Chris Tuminello are brothers. Chris was a solid player at UT. This should make Thanksgiving fun in that house for the next few years.
I'm happy Nick chose BG and not the "dark side".
Great reports on the other recruits. I am really pumped to see Marquese Quiles on the field.
Sounds like we have a great class coming in....I know every team says that every year but the backgrounds of these players sound excellent. The DB's sound like they can come in and challenge for PT from the get go.
Let's get it started...the 2008 season kicks off TODAY.
