Brings back some good memories of some solid teams back in the early 80's, especially the 82-83 season. Great crowds the whole season and Weinert really played to the student section with the loud sportcoats.
John Weinert article
Colin Irish, Joe Faine, David Greer, David Jenkins, Marcus Newburn, Bill Faine, Lamar Jackson, Keith Taylor. John's tenure saw a lot of talented players wear the brown and orange. Unfortunately it also saw its share of disappointment as they never won the MAC Tournament and never made it to the NCAA Tourney. The ’83 MAC Championship game in AA was probably the most devastating loss I experienced at BG during my four years there. OU coach Danny Nee at the time will always be a prick to me!

I agree with you about how devastating that loss was. Since the game was technically a neutral site game OU had their pep band and a pretty decent contingent of students at the game. To see them celebrate a MAC championship on our home floor was tough to take. And then to get back to our apartment in time to catch the OT of the CCHA championship game which we lost to Michigan St. And the next day both teams get snubbed by the NCAA selection committees. Can't imagine a crappier weekend for BG sports.Rollo83 wrote:Colin Irish, Joe Faine, David Greer, David Jenkins, Marcus Newburn, Bill Faine, Lamar Jackson, Keith Taylor.
