We did the Who's He chant 3 years ago, so it wasn't only hockey. I kinda get that it's weird, but we did it when I and I believe you were freshmen.

A lot of us got into the heads of the other players to the point where after the game Mr. Adrian from Arkansas St (?) came and shook our hands after the game, and we've had multiple players respond back in not so positive ways. Mike-Mac used to research, and I friended several via facebook...sometimes those sources work and sometimes they don't have much on there. We just need to make fun of the players. I recall an incident where I told someone to "pick their azz off the floor" and when he got up and ran down court, his response was "f*ck you b*tch". Same for a Miss Patrice at Eastern. Simple things like that can mess with them.

We are very boring with the chants as well. Defense clap clap...I understand it works, but EVERYtime the other team gets the ball? I know we've talked about a million times on chants and what not, but we need some new ones or old ones brought back. I still love the "Is that not the scoreboard...." regardless of what BGCincy says about being high school-ish. It's a nice way to end a game.

"Some of the most spirited people at this entire university are in the band program, FMB A-band or even just in the CMA."

I see that you did not say all, but you said most, and I took it as more than 1/2 of the most spirited people are in band. Compared to other schools though, our band could do more.

I did not realize that was done freshman year, I went to a couple games then and it wasn't done, either that or I really wasn't paying attention (which I doubt). Just thinking off the top of my head (probably not a good idea) but I think we, the students, need to get as many of our friends there and do research on the opponents, or do whatever is needed in order to get into their heads. Maybe just by getting roudy at the games and giving the Sideline Squad the reputation of being the reason why Anderson Arena is "The House That Roars" again might get more students to show up and join in. As far as the cheers, you'll have to talk to the cheerleaders about many of those. They don't have many cheers outside of the "defense-clap-clap" or the "we are...bg (or orange and brown)"

I forget which team the girls were playing, but we came up with a different chant for each different player that touched the ball and once that started they couldn't buy a basket.

No one said band people were the only spirited ones either.

Maybe someone needs to start researching and printing off stuff to use on other teams again.
Haha you bring back fun memories Niz. Yeah I used to request to be their friends on facebook and some of them were dumb enough to accept me. The best was when a player had a girlfriend listed. Very easy to get into a player's head with that one. "Hey Joey, Lisa left her underwear over my place last night" lol. Hey Niz, remember when I printed of pictures of Sonny Troutman from OU holding just huge wads of cash. I got that off facebook. I also found a picture once of Willie Graham from Wright State drinking a 40 oz'er. Oh yeah, and he was only 20 years old the date of the game. I did both of those during the 05-06 season. It was alot of work to research, friend request, type it out, print it out, and bring them to the game. At the time I lived on campus and had access to dorm hall computer labs where I could print off 50 some copies easily. The sheets were called Sideline Shouts if anyone remembers. I didn't do it last year because the team had low expectations, Dakich was a lame duck coach, and student attendance dwindled. What sucks is that most of us regulars on the sideline, including myself, will be graduating in May. I worry how many students will be there next season.
I know this Saturday I'll be getting on the Akron players. I've seen most of the guys 3 times through my years here and I know them very well. I promise to get on Nick Dails all game. I really dislike that punk ass. I may get kicked out. We'll see.

Whenever Willie Graham would go to the free-throw line: "Ki-ing Cobra clap clap clap clap clap"

That punk azz from ohio just smiled and laughed about that picture with the money.

Who was the guy from UA who told us to meet him outside after the game? Good call man, you vs. 20 animals, dumbazz.

As far as ways to pick on UA:

#2 Quade Milum: Number two, smells like poo! Dumb sounding yes, but nothing will irritate him more than hearing it all game.

Nick Dials: Hand soap clap clap hand soap clap clap.

It doesn't matter how dumb you may think something is, chances are the dumber it is, the more they will hate it.

OKAY..........

My friend gave me some ideas. I'll handle the parent section if I can get others to handle other sections.

1. It was suggested to get empty watter bottles and put rocks or beads in them. Cover them with orange and or brown paper, string, or something like that.

2. Orange and brown hand towels to twirl.

3. Orange and brown balloons.

I'm desperate! We are going to some party stores here to see what we can find. I'm pumped up!!!!!!

I love brainstorm sessions! :D

The water bottle noisemakers is a UT-sort of thing. I'm sure they're not the first to do it, but if you're going to go that route, you're not allowed to straight out say that's what you're doing. You have to make "IT" a covert mission.

I'm thinking you could probably get a pack of towels/washcloths on the cheap at K-Mart or even a dollar store, and experiment with some dye.

The "Who's He?" deal is definitely a hockey thing, but there's no reason it can't be a BG thing. As far as chants go, I've found that the spur of the moment "clap clap clapclapclap" chants work best oftentimes, but it's probably good to have some planned ahead of time, too. Ball State's band was pretty good with some chants, even if they were painfully misguided at times...

One thing I wish people around the arena would pick up on: when we make our free throws (no jokes about us not making them) the drummer in the band gives two clicks and a boom and we yell "go falcons". I think it would be sweet if everyone did that. I believe the cheerleaders do it too, but I can't usually hear them since they face away from us.

One other, completely stupid but awesome thing, when we make a three, some of us yell "Y-E-S Yes!" and when the opposition hits a trey we yell "N-O-O- NOOOOOOO!" Pretty dumb I know, but its a big tradition for the euph section to spell the things they want to say so we can prove to everyone we're not as dumb as they think we are

Actually Strouse, the announcer has given the fans the opportunity to do that chant.

As he announces the opposing team, he pauses and remembers back to his days at BGSU when Tom Glick would announce the opposing teams and the crowd would do the chant. Announce the visiting player (WHO'S HE? NOBODY!) announce the visiting the player (WHO'S HE? NOBODY!) and repeat three more times. He has done it that way for almost two years now.

I beg to differ because at every bball game I've been at, with the exception of this last game, in order to get out "whose he? nobody!" you'd have to yell it really quick. The announcer was not allowing enough time for people to yell that, though you would always hear people trying to get it out in time.

HAHAHAHAHAHA this argument is kinda funny.

Transfer IS the guy who announces the games. I'm not sure if he gives enough tme for it or not, I'm usually telling the other teams that this isn't the NBA while they snap "photos" of each other.

OK, Niz outted me.

However, I did take a couple of moments to do a scientific study (OK, so UK Peregrine and PGY Tiercel will probably argue against the scientific part) but what I discovered is that when I go through the motions silently thinking "WHO'S HE? NOBODY! it averaged 1.56 seconds or so, but when I actually shouted it out (and scared the dog half to death) it was about 2.25 seconds. Where did that extra .75 seconds come from? No idea. But I love to hear the crowd yell that phrase out so you better get ready to YELL IT OUT LOUD because you're going to get the extra time!
