This is a big game. EMU is one of the better teams in the MAC, and a victory here would at least keep pace with Ohio/Miami/Western. You gotta figure that Ohio and Miami, especially Miami is going to start dropping some games down the stretch.

The webcasts are really funky these days, I wish they would just give us a straight schedule of when the games are on.

Wow. Agreed. I just saw his "Member Bio" here, and was thinking about how we haven't seen the likes of him in years!

If there's one thing to be learned from today, its that the guys are getting better, but the ladies still rule the basketball domain at BGSU. The crowd was just more into the game at the women's game I think. The ladies really fought through a bad shooting stretch for the first 30 minutes and just crushed EMU late, especially on defense. EMU only scored 4 points in the final 8 minutes or so I think. What a great finish and a great win.

I got to shake most of the players' hands and congratulate them after the game, many of them stayed on the court long after the final horn with the parents/alumni folk. They are such nice people.

Tara Breske....

Post by Falconboy »

Another thing we learned in this game is that most Mac teams don't really stand a chance against us when Tara Breske is on her game. I don't know what the deal is but Mac refs just love to call fouls on her. Its pretty simple when Tara is on and not in foul trouble we win usually pretty big, when she gets called for a ton of fouls and sits the bench a lot we struggle a bit more and the game is rather uneasy for the most part. Great play by Uhl down the stretch as well filling in for Breske at center. I'm actually surprised she hasn't taken over Murdaugh for the starting 4 spot.

Tara Breske is the women's version of Otis Polk, except much more coordinated and a lot more touch around the basket. They both get tons of fouls called on them, many of them undeserved. Really, I think you could make a case that many centers in the MAC get tons of fouls called on them because of how whistle-happy the refs in this conference are. As for Murdaugh-Uhl, if it ain't broke...

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
