I agree whole heartedly, if the media wouldn't put these kids up on a pedistal then there wouldn't be grown men across the country slamming high school kid's and hanging on their every word.BGFalconfromCincy wrote:I kinda like what this guy had to say on the issue

Terrelle Pryor
Quick question since I don't have complete knowledge on how the recruiting works. A LOI is not signing a scholarship correct? question becomes... hypothetically speaking... say mr. pryor tears his ACL tomorrow in his tourney game. Had he signed yesterday at his press conference would that mean the school could not pull its offer and is obligated to a scholarship? Or does that mean that the attention whore goes from offers to OSU, Penn State, UM... to the likes of the MAC and other mid-majors?
I dont think he is an attention whore..I think after watching the press conference and other interviews of his, he actually doesn't like the attention.
His problem is that he can't tell anyone no. Even his HS coach says this. His coach had to cancel visits to Ga Tech and another school because he couldn't tell them no and scheduled a visit even though he wasn't serious about giving them a shot.
His dad put a little pressure on him to give PSU and Oregon an official visit because they had spent a lot of time and money on visiting him. His heart tells him he likes OSU but he can't tell his father NO. I don't think he wants to visit them. He even said he doesn't like anything about PSU after his unofficial visit. He doesn't like the area, the campus or anything else about it. Program stability is a big thing for him and let's face it, JoePA is not exactly young. It would be unfortunate, but when you are that old and in a job that stressful, you never know when he may deteriorate into poor health.
But, this inability to say no is why I have cooled on him. What if he can't say no to some idiot booster or someone who may offer him money or other illegal gifts? What if he gets to college and can't say no to drugs?
I am not saying this would happen but not being able to say no to anyone who pressures you, is not exactly a good trait to have.
But, I may be wrong about. Who knows. All I know is I have cooled on him lately and that is my reasoning.
Either way, this was a hell of a class for OSU. They filled all of their needs. They have 3 QB's on roster, they don't have a pressing need for a QB in this class..they will just take two next year.

To put it simply:bgsukid wrote:That's funny because I get the same feeling about the reason this thread was even started. We have to get a head start on hating the kid in case he chooses Ohio State you know.
Bite me, jackass.
I posted the thread because it was an interesting element to a story about a kid who could end up at an Ohio school.
Go jerk it to Hang On Sloopy.

The hating the kid comment wasn't aimed at you but more the predictable responses that followed. The part aimed at you would've been the part about the thread being started because he's considering Ohio State, which I don't mind, I mean afterall he is argueably the top prospect in the nation so you don't have to be a fan of one of the schools he's choosing between to be interested. It's just funny because I stick up for the kid I get these hatful responses and get called names. If I would've just said something completely ridiculous, but it was critical of OSU or their recruitment of Pryor I'd bet not one person would've said anything(other than tek). Of course I must be an OSU fan because it's unethical to root for BG and not despise the the core of OSU's existence, right? I don't hate OSU, I don't see why I should since we aren't rivals and don't compete for the same recruits(sans Hockey), I actually like to see all Ohio schools do well and I hope the kid chooses OSU because I think I'd be great to see a player of his caliber in this state. I like to stick up for OSU on this board sometimes because the mob mentality of everything OSU being evil is just very tired to me and I think it reflects poorly on our fanbase to visitors who might be reading. I just think people need to stop being upset with something they have no control over and something that is never going to change, OSU's always going to be king in this state and I'm fine with it. I've found it to be a much healthier way of looking at things.Peregrinner wrote: To put it simply:

Is it related to Terrelle Pryor or does it have to do with the event he is attending at LaSalle High School in Cincinnati? I heard about the LaSalle thing and that is a joke, but maybe you are referring to something else.redskins4ever wrote:Sweatervest is being investigated for improper benefits... this could be interesting.

Nothing has been said of anything anywhere..not on the buckeye boards, UM boards, ESPN. I find no such news anywhere.
If you are talking about the Corvette thing with Terrell Pryor..that was squashed many moons ago...it was a Prom picture and someone let him barrow the car for prom..it was a non story.
*edit* I forgot to add that the guy who let him barrow the car was a Penn State Booster and is currently a PITT booster and PSU is conveniently back in the picture...so if anything is "interesting" then look at that, Jack.
Yea that Cincinnati LaSalle thing is retarded..why did the guy even waste his time writing that up? There is no way to prove that he only spoke there because of Posey...Even if he did,it wouldn't be illegal...he didn't give Posey anythng. Big deal. People are too freacking uptight and have to stretch to find anything on anyone they don't like..98_BG_GRAD wrote:Is it related to Terrelle Pryor or does it have to do with the event he is attending at LaSalle High School in Cincinnati? the NCAA has rules that should only apply to third graders..most of them don't even make sense.

It's not an NCAA violation plain and simple and I don't know where you got that Tressel is being investigated because there's not an ounce of truth to that accusation. Tressel gets dozens of requests to speak throughout the state at high schools, he has no obligation to the NCAA on which ones can and can't accept. Would you be this upset if Shane Montgomery was speaking at LaSalle, assumming they'd actually want him to? It's hilarious that you're making a big deal over this just because some national writer mentioned it in an article(and because it's Ohio State, otherwise nobody would've said a word here), even though Doyel never said it was a violation(because it's not) he just didn't like it. It's very possible a lot of Tressel's motivation for speaking at LaSalle is to get future recruits, especially since this is the first time he got a player from that school. I'm sure he wants to continue to get players from one of the better schools in Cincinnati. Building relationships with high school coaches and within a community is a huge part of recruiting to help get future players from that high school. All coaches do this and the coaches that don't recruit as well probably don't spend as much time as they should doing things like this. Tressel has a great relationship with the majority of the high schools coaches in the state which is a big reason why Ohio State has lost fewer top in-state recruits to the likes of Michigan since he's been the coach. Just last week I read Tressel spoke in Canton(by the way, no recruits from Canton or Akron going to OSU this year).redskins4ever wrote:If you are only speaking at the high schools of your recruits then it is a benefit especially when you have to pay to go see Cheaty McSweatervest speak.
Tekini I don't know why you bother to breathe, I would have thought natural selection would have taken care of you by now.
You're an F'n idiot that is so blinded by his hate for the flagship school of this state that you would take an article from some hose bag who didn't even claim that there was an investigation or a violation and make up your own hate blinded conclusions.redskins4ever wrote:If you are only speaking at the high schools of your recruits then it is a benefit especially when you have to pay to go see Cheaty McSweatervest speak.

Did you READ the article?
Tressell has the right to speak at whatever F'n high school he gets invited too. Just like Dick Fraud, Meyer, Montgomery, Brandon or anyone else. How the F&*( do you think schools develop pipelines? They build relationships. The author just didn't like the timing and drawn his own non factual conclusions. He tried to claim that he scheduled the event after signing day so that if Posey backed out of his commitment then Tressell would have backed out of the event. It is just an opinion, with no facts, admits it is not illegal, he just thought it was shady..but he has no idea if that is even the case.
I guess the author forgot that right after the title game, there is several weeks of recruiting to finished up. Tressell had been on the road for the two weeks leading up to signing day with home visits to brandon harris, Keith Wells, Terrell Pryor, Ohrian Johnson, Shaq Rowell, Nathan Williams, and all of the other recruits. When the hell did he have time to schedule an event before signing day? This author is a tool and so are you.
As someone else said..Tressell also speaks at a lot of schools where no one holds a scholly offer.
Natural selection hasn't taken care of you yet old man?..They are not the Redskins anymore down there in cryami.
Make sure you know what you are talking about next time.
