The PD had a listing of the players selected for the annual N-S High School allstar game (to be played in July, I believe).
BG's recruits involved include:
North Team - Aaron Pankratz-QB
Tony Stover - LB/DL
Nick Tuminello- LB/RB
Mark Stevens-OL (Our "favorite" kid?)
South Team - Tim German-OL
Keith Morgan- RB/DB
Was mildly surprised that neither of the Middletown OL's was selected, but this has to be one of the best years for BG recruits in this game in a LONG time.

As far as the two Middletown kids , isn't there another Ohio FB all-star game, like the Big 33 game or something like that? I'm pretty sure they'd be in one of thes all-star games.Class of 61 wrote:The PD had a listing of the players selected for the annual N-S High School allstar game (to be played in July, I believe).

FB, You're right in that the BIG 33 game is also held in the summer with the best kids from OHIO vs. the best from PA..... doubtful that we'll have many kids in this game though as the rosters are much more limited obviously...Do recall that we had 3-4 kids in this game several years ago...but not many recently.Falconboy wrote:As far as the two Middletown kids , isn't there another Ohio FB all-star game, like the Big 33 game or something like that? Only player listed committed to BG is Bart Tanski, however, he is listed as a RB? I believe these positions are not correct, Dave Plungas (Mentor Lake Catholic) is listed as a QB and he didn't play QB in high school at al, so i'm going to assume there is some mixup. I browsed the list kind of quickly, but I believe Tanski is the only player on the roster.

Apparently the Pennsylvania side has been upset that the Ohio side hasn't consisted of the best of the best over the past few years. It looks as if the Ohio side does have several top tier recruits this year, however.Class of 61 wrote:FB, You're right in that the BIG 33 game is also held in the summer with the best kids from OHIO vs. the best from PA..... doubtful that we'll have many kids in this game though as the rosters are much more limited obviously...Do recall that we had 3-4 kids in this game several years ago...but not many recently.Falconboy wrote:As far as the two Middletown kids , isn't there another Ohio FB all-star game, like the Big 33 game or something like that? Most interesting (to me at least ) is that FIVE of the Top33 roster are signed with Miami, four to OSU.... looks like Miami did pretty well in its recruiting, if you can believe all star rosters.BGSUfalcons wrote:Apparently the Pennsylvania side has been upset that the Ohio side hasn't consisted of the best of the best over the past few years. Re: BG Represented well in N.-S. HS Allstar game
Upon closer look, Bednar (OG) is ranked below Walker, Stevens, German AND Robinson. DJ Brown is a CB who is a 2 star NR on scout, BG has 2 players who are ranked at CB from Ohio. Andrew Cruise and DeMark Jenkins are virtually ranked even at the WR position (both in the 250's and 2 stars). Andrew Phelan is a NR OT (noted before with our four top OGs). Zac Dysert is a big time recruit at QB, not going to take anything away from him.Class of 61 wrote:Most interesting (to me at least ) is that FIVE of the Top33 roster are signed with Miami, four to OSU.... looks like Miami did pretty well in its recruiting, if you can believe all star rosters.
Not trying to bash on Miami, and as noted from Class of 61, "if all-star teams mean anything" also if scout rankings mean anything. Impressive class for Miami, but lets not subtract from our class too!
