I really hope Kory can impress some people and get drafted, even if it's one of the later rounds. I think he could be a great addition to several NFL teams...although, I still am not sure how Big D didn't get a good look...did he not want to pursue the football career? Back to the point at hand...Kory could definitely be a great player in the league.

Bowling Green center Kory Lichtensteiger took part in the running workout and practice sessions but that will be all the working out he'll be doing for a while. Unbeknownst to him, Lichtensteiger played part of last season with a torn labrum, an injury discovered immediately after the Senior Bowl. He chose to participate at the combine on a limited bases then will have surgery next week. The rehabilitation could shelve him for up to four months

Since he was playing with the injury and didn't even know it, I think his chances of still being drafted are very high.
Yeah right girl!

Best of wishes to Kory in not injuring it anymore than it already is before surgery. Just wondering since I know nothing of medical terms but what is the labrum? In all honesty, just from what was said here, it doesn't sound like it's something that bothered him at all since even he didn't know he had it. But in any case, hopefully this doesn't hurt where and when he gets drafted too much.

It's a ring of cartilage that helps hold the shoulder in place. At one time or another, anyone who plays close to the line of scrimmage will likely have some kind of shoulder injury given all the pushing and pulling in the trenches, not to mention the acute trauma of slamming your shoulders into someone else's.....it's not like a shoulder injury is an unheard of thing for a lineman. But...I imagine the proximity of the surgery and recovery to the draft might scare some teams off.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Here's a summary of a conversation I had with a physical therapist at work today.
This is a pretty common injury in athletes, especially those who use repetative throwing or overhand swinging motions. Pitchers, swimmers and tennis players for example. For your average joe, it's common to treat them with therapy before resorting to surgery. Athletes will usually choose surgery right away. Eddy Curry and Lamar Odom both recently had labrum repairs. Surgery for these tears has improved alot in the last few years and chances that an athlete will get back to 100% after surgery are good as long as they're not a pitcher. This kind of injury has ended alot of major league pitchers careers. Recovery time varies from a couple of months to a year with 4-6 months being pretty typical.
In a nutshell, he said it sounded like Kory's injury was probably pretty minor since he didn't realize he had it and that he would guess he would be fine.

You should be watchin out bc he just dropped a 4.5-40 and a 41 inch vertical. Not bad for a 240lb TE who was only offered 2 scholarships out of high school bc he was "too small" to play WR at 160lbs!
