Saturday's Game at BG doesn't start until 7:35 pm. I think it had something to do with the women's basketball game going on at 4. Give people enough time to go to that game and then head over to the ice arena without feeling rushed. Unless the game is pushed back for tv. Not that I know of though.

I vote for John Mazzei... even though I can't vote for John Mazzei.

Can somebody tell me what the origin of "egg suckers" referring to Michigan State is? I don't get it. I keep thinking green eggs and ham every time I see that.

Its a hold over from the 80's when BG and MSU were pretty much at Joe Louis every post season. We never cared much for them and the arena was always a sea of green and white with a large splotch of orange in one corner. They have a chant that they do back and forth (about the only time they're not sitting on their hands at a game) where one side yells "Go Green!" and the other responds with "Go White!". When we were playing them (I think in '88, but I need that verified) we got so tired of hearing it that we started yelling "Go Suck An Egg!" after the "Go White!". The whole BG section picked up on it and started yelling it! It was absolutely great and after a couple of times of doing it it pretty much put a stop to their chant for the rest of the game! Classic!

I am pretty sure that cheer start before '88 at the Joe...we used to yell it at the Ice Arena prior to that year. FindlayFalcon's son (a former Freddie) and his friends started it before he became the mascot, I think!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Sweep the Egg Suckers!!!!!!!!!!!!
Could also be the fact that the "alumni" party is scheduled at Mileti after the women's game til 7 pm...would give them time to enjoy some refreshments etc. between WBB and Hockey.

Well in hockey an egg usually refers to the opponent laying a goose egg on the scoreboard. Meaning we shut them out. We haven't s**t them out in god knows how long. Therefore you old timers can say your lame go suck an egg. I will stick to can't read can't write. Last time I watched MSU was at the Ralph Englestad this October. Let's just say MSU dropped a goose egg 6-0 loss. GO BG!!!

Old timers? I'm only 25, does that make me one because I can remember when Section A and Section H used to go back and forth with the "Go green, go white, GO SUCK AN EGG!" chant. I also remember Section A and Section E going back and forth with BG-SU! Oh, those were the days. ;-)
