Bowl email from Paul Krebs

Post by TG1996 »

I got just got this email (third or fourth hand through the Indy alumni chapter), but for all of you nervous ones out there, I think this turns any remaining "ifs" into big ol' "WHENS":

(If this shouldn't have been posted here, please remove it, I just thought it seemed VERY relevant and even more reassuring to some of the guesswork that has gone on here the past week.)

Subject: Bowl Update
Importance: High

I wanted to update you on the bowl situation. The good news, BGSU will be going to a post season bowl game. For only the second time in our history, we will be involved in back to back bowl bids. The bad news, we still do not know which game will select the Falcons. I feel very good about our opportunity in the GMAC Bowl in Mobile and still feel strongly that we will end up in this game. But nothing is certain. We hope to know within the next day. If not GMAC, we will most likely be in Boise, Vegas, or Shreveport. I will keep you posted and notify as soon as we are selected.

In the meantime, we need to continue to stoke the fires of our alumni and donor interest in following the falcons to a bowl game. Our success in the bowl will in large part be determined by the number of fans that turn out to support the Falcons. Any thing we can do to communicate our plans to our alumni and encourage them to support the football team by purchasing tickets through our ticket office will be key.

Right now, we continue to tell fans to stay tuned, we are going bowling, we just don;t know where yet. All are being advised to check our website as details will be posted as soon as we know. We are still planning large ticket mailings to alumni in the south should we end up there.

Does anyone feel that this site was probably worthy of such an e-mail from Mr. Krebs?

Nice detective work TG1996!

Grant - I have been looking for and at several potential opponents message boards and web sites, and I must say that this one is the best that I was able to see today. This site gets me even more excited about BG.

Nice job!

The email was sent originally (apparently) to about 3 people. The alumni office sent it to the head of the alumni chapters, and Tom, the head of the Indy chapter, is really good about passing information like this along. I just happened to read the first line of the email from the alumni department (in case Kam Walter decided to reveal her deep, secret crush on me  ), saw something about "this email from Paul Krebs", and kept reading.

I'm glad I did.

Why, Paul Krebs said in the New York Times that he stays away from message boards and tells his staff to as well.

Krebs, The Blade, ESPN, College Football, heck even Option all agree we will be bowling. . ..

. . . we are all just waiting on the where, not necassarily the if. .. . I think my father is the only one still skeptical of a BG bowl bid. . .
