Simms CAN Play After All

Post by The Niz »

I had been having my doubts about Simms this year but yesterday he played great in the first half (I had to leave at half-time so I don't know what his second was like). He drained every three he took in that first half, and was playing smart and passing well.

Larson fumbled at least a billion passes yesterday.

Moten and Joe Jak were killer. 24 and 21 pts respectively.

I love seeing Otis draw fouls.
Yeah right girl!

Yeah. While Moten is arriving with a big splash, it seems that Sims is having a low-grade arrival of his own. Sims looked much less tentative than I've seen in the past. He played with much more confidence. When he was in, he helped us. Late in the game, I would've liked to see him out there. He could've helped us against Kent's full court pressure.

Larson just flat out cannot catch the damn ball. He has been dropping passes all year long. The guy needs a first baseman's mit. I liked the way he turned and hit that 15 footer, though.

Can we now declare Moten to be the premier outside shooter in the MAC?

Despite Jak's great stat line yesterday, I see some problems. He puts the ball on the floor A LOT. With that, he's quite predictable when he has the ball. It seems that he predetermines what he'll do and doesn't adjust well if a hole disappears or a passing lane goes away. Kent's perimeter trapping and pressure was giving him fits.

There were some bad calls yesterday, especially by the guy with the shaved head. Knight's 5th actually a beautiful, clean block. Otis's 2nd and 4th were bogus, too.

I was pumped on Sims two years ago when he was a freshman...I saw his ball handling skills as well as his ability to hit the big shot. I am really glad he is finally showcasing his skills more and making himself a big part of this team. KEEP IT UP SIMS!

Sims has really started to step it up the last few weeks in spot minutes. I also like the way it looks as though he's finally starting to find his touch from three-point range.

As for Larson, while I admit he's got to work on his handwork when he's passed the ball or when there's a loose ball, but we all have to admit, he had a few HUGE blocks in the closing minutes against Kent State.

JoJak accounted for about 45 points yesterday with his baskets and assists. I'll take that any day all season long.

JJ is a true freshman. He should only improve. OP 4 of 5 from the line. I will take 80% from him any day.

Larson has gotten better each game he has played, and honestly he played a pretty good game. Defensively he was much better than he was early in the season. I think next year, Marc Larson may be a really solid center. Same goes with Polk. He's improved vastly from last year to early this year to now. We may have the conference's best centers next year.

Yeah, Larson isn't afraid to mix it up on defense. He holds his own on that end of the court (except for Joe Reitz).
