Most times? More like all the time. I just knew somebody would bring this up. When has our women's team ever lost to a sub-.500 team in conference? You'd have to go back at least 4 years for that. This isn't men's basketball or hockey. This idea of not taking anything for granted, as far as I'm concerned, does not apply to women's basketball. Until they actually lose one to a bad team at least.Class of 61 wrote:Seems like some people were saying the same thing about Buffalo's men's team .... before last nite..... don't take ANYTHING for granted...even though our ladies seem to be able to overcome bad nites most times.bgsufalcon24 wrote:Freak, I think you'll have a lot of time to chant in the 2nd half. Don't know what happened to MY message.... but what you saw was something my wife saved... evidently somewhere...the pic is of her daughter, a BG grad, doing a Dr. Suess thing at the school at which she teaches in Mad River....bgsufalcon24 wrote:I'm not even going to ask where your brain is right now...
MY point related to the fact that MANY people seemed to think that the ladies would take Miami the 1st time with little problem...(they HAD been unbeaten to that point), than lost 2 more MAC games in a row, before "righting the ship" so to speak. As a former coach, I tried to get kids to always stay focused on the Current team being played with max. effort and concentration.

You bring up a good point with Miami. The difference though is, unlike Akron, Miami is actually good. Now if Akron beats us or even gives us a game down the stretch you can give me the old "I told you so."

The game with Akron may be easy, but we do need to look out for the two freshmen guards Akron has. They only lost to Miami by 10 or so and the two freshmen scored 59 points between them. I don't see us losing this game since Coach Miller and staff preach one game at a time and they will be prepared for any and everything an opponent can throw at them. I also don't see Kate and Whitney letting the team be flat for their last regualr season game.
But any team can be dangerous, especially at home.

I totally agree. Kate & Whit won't allow a let down. In a story in the Sentinel about Whitney, it stated that the freshman asked the coaching staff to tell Whit to back off her enthusiasm which they didn't. Now Kate's the heavy pushing them to be successful.
On the bus to OU, I watched the intense preparation the coaching staff goes through readying for the game. They are singlemined in one game @ a time. They have a "cheat" sheet which goes over players' strenghts & weaknesses. They are scout heavy in preparing so if Akron does something we haven't seen adjustments will be made. The coaches are great teachers & the player are with them so I think we're OK. Time will tell They will leave it all on the court. Need to get ready to slide over to the JAR for the game

Unlike our men last night , I truly believe our women will be more than ready for Akron tonight. I do not see what happened at UB last night happening to the women. They are just too well coached and are lead by a couple of sr's who aren't ready to give up the Mac Championship just yet.

BG will be ready to play in a couple hours. Leadership of Kate and Whit won't let this team have a lackluster effort.
I agree about Akron's freshmen...they will be very good soon.
NEVER take anyone for granted...especially on their home floor. The Zippies would like nothing better to steal a win over THEE best MAC team (again) tonight!
C ya there in 90 minutes!!! GO FALCONS!!

Congrats to ALL the fans who were able to make it out there and support this final game before the tourney. In the post game it was mentioned that there were more BG fans than Akron fans, and CERTAINLY more vocal. Falcontastic support all around, and let's continue this rally behind the girls thru the championship!

Great game last night...BG's D was very solid. How about this? Lauren scored a grand total of 2 points last night and BG was ahead by 20 for much of the game. Bianca Hooten (HOOT HOOT HOOT!) came off the bench to throw in 11 pts...she is starting to remind some of us of Carin Horne. Great to see all players get some minutes.
Kate Achter...if Kate isn't the league POTY, we should burn the MAC office to the ground. Kate plays harder than anyone I've seen in a long, long time. She was getting mugged last night driving to the hole and the refs made no calls. One ref warned her when she questioned the other ref but I felt she had every right to be ticked. Man....
Anyway, wow....24-6, 13-3 MAC. FOUR TIME MAC CHAMPIONS
C ya at the Q.

I just want to say, that if Kate Achter doesn't win the league player of the year, and the MAC office somehow burns to the ground, I don't know who this "Falconfreak" guy is. Never met him. Ever.Falconfreak90 wrote:...if Kate isn't the league POTY, we should burn the MAC office to the ground.
Way to go Falcons!!!
