4 Straight

Post by ZiggyZoomba »

No MAC women's basketball team has ever won 4 straight MAC championships before. (In any sport???)

Until now!

Congrats Falcons!!!

INCREDIBLE. In what was supposed to be a rebuilding year, and a BiG one at that, turns into another championship season. 24-6, 13-3 MAC. EXCELLENT!!!

This title is special...this staff is incredible and the players? I am so proud of the way they represent BOWLING GREEN STATE UNIVERSITY.

CONGRATULATIONS to the coaches and players for another fantastic FALCON ride.

Now, time to win 4 straight MAC Tourney titles as well. C ya on the North Coast...Enjoy this cuz it is a rare feat.

GO BG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agreed J4H. To win the title again after losing six players and four players from the starting lineup a year ago, that's really something special. And to think, were it not for a 3-game swoon in midseason they'd be NCAA tourney bound for sure right now. 24-6 record with only 1 senior and 2 freshmen starting? That's pretty darn amazing.

ON TO THE Q!!!

the BG CROWD

Post by Class of 61 »

Best part of the nite was that, even though it was Akron's Senior nite....the crowd was largely ORANGE AND BROWN!!!! An Akron guy sitting behind us complained about a call on one of their players (an "over the back" type)...he thought it was a clean block...when I commented that the block looked clean, except the girl had made body contact over the back of our player...he was disgusted....He's sitting in the middle of a group of about 8 BG fans and thinks HE'S right? What a fun nite!!!

Congrats, Ladies! You have done BG proud!!! :D

Don't forget the guy telling me it was classless to yell and cheer during UA's free throws.

Oops.

Edited to add:
Akron WBB attendance average: 323
Last night's attendance: 660
A wee bit of funny math later tells me that we brought roughly 300 fans to UA to support this team. WOW!!! :D :D :D

There is NO WAY BG had less than 400 people at the UA game. BG fans filled the lower level over to the Akron bench. On the opposite side, there were maybe 100 people. Including the random fat dude in the floor chairs...lol. And on the opposite side were a good number of BG fans.

I'll bet BG had at least 400 fans...Love the way the fans travel to support this team.

Hey Mike I'd go to the ends of the earth to follow this team---it wasn't bad going to Cancun either. They are such good people first & foremost plus really great bball players----I'm glad the coaching staff keeps finding these diamonds in the rough & polishes each into our Falcons. It's just so much fun to be part of it as a fan. :D :D :D

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but in the 2004-2005 season, didn't someone else win the regular season title? I thought, for some reason, that we just won the tournament championship that year??

It's a bad analogy, but I'll use it anyway. When it comes to women's basketball, Bowling Green is the Pittsburgh Steelers of the MAC. We put fans into most of the opposing arenas, and we have the best home fans too. +1 all around.
