Travel tips
This is a letter I sent to your assistant AD:
I've been following the GMAC Bowl and their selections. Being from Mobile and a recent graduate from the University of Alabama, I have a large interest in the game, as well as most sports fans in Mobile. The following and support that the city offers is amazing. Last year I was the "unofficial" spokesperson for the city of Mobile. I posted several things to do, places to see and places to stay in Mobile for the Miami Ohio fans. I also formed a Miami Ohio fan headquaters bar in downtown Mobile. It was a great time and the fans really enjoyed themselves. I realize that most, if not all, of your fans have never been to Mobile, so I'd like to help out as much as I can. Please let me know if I can offer any assistance or help make your fans have a fun and safe stay in our great city. If you'd like, you can go to miamihawktalk.com and ask a few questions about myself or their trip last year. I know they all had a blast. Take care and we hope y'all get the invite. Also, feel free to pass this on to all BG fans. -Tom

I checked out some of the very nice downtown hotels ... but IF we get the GMAC bid and IF my CFO (re: wife) gives the greenlight, there will be sever bugetary limitations. Any economy (i.e. Days Inn, La Quinta, etc.) hotels near the stadium? A short drive would be OK, since I'd have to rent a car anyway...
I recall the folks in Alabama treated us with class and great hospitality when we were down there in 1995. I recall buying a hot pretzel at the game, and having the lady lean forward and tell me that she and her son were cheering for us, and "not to tell anybody. We're Auburn fans." The police escort for the fan bus convoy was really the big moment.

Oh I'd love to see BG in the GMAC Bowl....someday, I'll get to that bowl. Mobile gets behind that game every year...one of the best bowls IMO.
No vacation time left and not enough $$$ this yr. Next yr I am saving 5 vacation days for the MACC and bowl game.
FALCON FOOTBALL....

If we do in fact head to Mobile I highly recommend to anyone who has never been to tour the battleship USS Alabama and the nearby submarine USS Drum. Anyone who is a history buff, or just curious, should really enjoy taking the tours of these 2 retired WWII ships.
I was born in Alabama, but moved up here when I was 2. When I was about 8 or so my parents took us to the panhandle of Florida for a vacation. During that trip we toured the battleship (so its been quite awhile for me), and also saw our old home. That battleship is one thing that really sticks out to me from that trip even now.
