He hasn't played all game it seems. Walker said he didn't appear injured or anything so it must be something else.

Yeah, he was there, my guess he’s either ill or it was a disciplinary decision or something. I guess we can only hope he’s back in the MAC Tournament, because it goes without saying we’ll need him.

Missed Practices

Post by Class of 61 »

I just listened to coach Orr's postgame interview....said it was his decision to bench Chris because "he missed a couple of practices"....also said he (Knight) will be back for the MAC tournament and that he (Orr) hopes that this will be a "learning experience" for Knight.

Bad timing to say the least... this also can affect (rightfully so) his chances of making the all Freshman team...coaches usually don't like it when kids don't make practices...

May hurt his chances at FOY but if he's not on the All-Frosh team there has to be an investigation.

Still shouldn't hurt his POY chances no other freshman has been as good as him. Not even JoJak.

Absolutely does not hurt his POY chances. He had none before the game and has none now. ;-)

Come on Chris, what's up with that? I don’t like the sound of this any time, let alone heading into the MAC Tournament. No matter what your seed is in the MAC Tournament, you are three or four wins away from an NCAA Tournament appearance. You’ve been playing all season long, why in the world is this going on now? The sky is the limit for Knight. He’s a MAC Freshman of the Year candidate and we’ve only had three MAC Freshman of the Year players before and they all turned out to have very good/great careers at BG (Shane Kline-Ruminski, Antonio Daniels, Anthony Stacey). Knight’s a future All-MAC player in making for years to come. With what we have returning next year and the help we are getting from the recruits next season, I just want to see us give it our all in the tournament. There’s been a lot to build on from this season already and we’ve turned the corner. Now, it’s just a matter of our team putting it together, each and every one of them, now and next season. People will start getting people excited about this program again and we can easily move back into the top tier of the MAC if we do it as a team. But if you start missing practices, it doesn’t matter if you are at BG or any other school, it’ll only lead to trouble for you, and your team. As Orr said, I also hope it’s a “learning experience” because whether you’re missing basketball practices or missing time at work, you’ll be of something (playing time, a job, etc.).

You’re way too good for this Chris. You’ve got the tools to do whatever you want on the court for three more years at BG. But right now, it’s your freshman year, so finish it strong because you’ll never have one again for the rest of your life. Think about it.

In the post game interview with Coach Stone, he said Chris was hurt during the Buff game and did not practice this past week. He said he hoped he would be ready for the tournament.

Yeah I think the question is.....did he miss the practices because he was being lazy so Coach Orr sat him for disciplinary reasons.

Or did he miss practice because he was banged up in the Buffalo game and Coach Orr decided to sit him out this game because he wasn't able to practice and needed the rest.

May have been a case where he was hurt and wasn't going to practice, so he didn't show up. Could be an honest mistake thinking "i'm not practicing, and i have plenty of school work to do"....

Good point. But I'm guessing Coach Orr would have told us if he was banged up or had the flu.
