I haven't looked at who made it, but that is surprising.

Jakubowski made it... congrats to Joe!

The rest:
Steve McNees, Akron
Melvin Goins, Ball State
Jeremy Allen, Central Michigan
Darion Anderson, Northern Illinois

This is ridiculous.

He was hands down the freshman of the year IMO.

This really does not surprise me.

It seems all year (except for the Peggy Chronin tourney) that Chris was under the radar. I would sit there at a game and wonder where was Chris Knight. Why wasn't he playing better? And then you would look at the game stats and see he had a double-double. But to me, it seemed as if he never did anything during the game to make you know that he was scoring.

In addition, during crunch time of some games, it appeared that Chris did not want the ball. I know he made a great shot (against Kent? Miami? I can't remember) during the final seconds of one game, but he seemed to be quick to pass the ball back to Joe or off to Nate.

Congrats to Joe. Chris, just show everyone in the tournament that they made a mistake. Go BG!

I know we're all a little bias here for BG, but Chris Knight should have been on the Freshman All-MAC team....and I'd still say that if he were playing at Toledo. How is 10.7 ppg & 7.3 rpg for a Frosh not enough to make the squad? Ridiculous! I hope this gives him some added motivation to play ever harder.

Steve McNees 29 g 2 starts 1 rpg 2apg 5.9ppg
Conference 16g 1 s 1rpg 1.5apg 5.7ppg

Melvin Goins 29 g 25 s 3rpg 66-76 A-TO 7.9ppg
16 g 13s 2r 38-43 a-to 8.4ppg

Jeremy Allen 29-22 2rpg 22-45 A-TO 1 stl 7.2ppg
16-10 3rpg 7-18 A-TO 1 stl 6.3ppg

Darian Anderson 27-18 5.1rpg 73-87 A-TO 11.9ppg
15-12 6.3rpg 47-58 A-TO 13.9ppg

Joe Jakubowski 29-21 2.6r 89-74 a-to 7.9ppg
16-16 2.5r 48-48 a-to 8.2 ppg

Chris Knight 28-27 7.2rpg 10.7ppg
15-15 6.9 rpg 8.7 ppg

OK so looking at this you can kinda see how Darian gets the nod for POY but for Knight to not be on th team thats absurd. He did much more than both Allena nd McNees.

Apparently him playing at a prep school makes him not a true freshman.

That's absurd.

If the MAC is going to get picky, the Anderson kid from NIU was a redshirt freshmen, meaning he had an entire year to grow and adapt to college basketball.

It wasn't because of prep school, it was because he was at BG for a year and academically ineligible. Ryan wrote about it in his blog:

This is the only type of explanation that makes any sense at all. He would have clearly been among the top 2 frosh in MAC.
