Just came back from the men's tourney. Between games the conversation broke out: who is the best basketball palyer in MAC history. Thurmond, Daniels, Wells, Boikins (vote for Geno Ford?)... Having herd this converstaion before, I held my tongue. But when it was my turn, I looked down on my program and said, "Kate Achter." (she is one of the players on the cover!)
I said: Senior. 4 MAC regular season titles. And 3 MAC Tourney titles (so far). Wasn't sure about the 4 regular seasons. But I stand by my call.
Thoughts?

I would be inclined to agree only because I've had the pleasure of watching Kate play for us the last three years. She's the driving force behind our offensive attack, plays hard, plays hurt, and just wills her team on to victories. Four MAC Championships in a row, a conference record of 44-4 the last 3 seasons (with only one loss on the road!) and a trip to the sweet 16 last season, making BG the first MAC team to accomplish that in women's basketball.
It's hard to compare her to some of the guys that have played in this conference, but Achter certainly has a STRONG case.

Yeah, Kate is definately up there. She is just a phenomenal talent, and one of the most driven people - men or women - that I have ever seen on a basketball court. That being said, though, I don't think there is any way that Nate couldn't be considered the best ever from the MAC. Hell, he's one of the best ever in the history of the sport!

Ok Ok. But my point was 4 regular season titles and 3 (so far) Tourney titles. Nate never did that. Right?

I understand Nate (and others) went on to bigger and better things. But, that kind of hardware? In the MAC arena?
