CCHA Tournament Quarterfinals: Bowling Green vs. #4 Miami
Just from reading a bit over at MWT.com you can tell that they were hoping for a different opponent in the 2nd round. We can't kid ourselves; this is going to be the hardest series any of these players have ever been in. But, we got something Miami doesn't have, and that the fact we got nothing to lose. We're not "on the bubble" and our season has already been success. At this point, we just need to go out and act like it's pond hockey in January. Our biggest failures have come when we come out tight.
I bet this is just eating up the Pooch haters right now...

I voted Louis Mass - I don't think he was ever a captain, but I could be wrong!
Now, the next question is....who scored the game winner on "Green Beer Night" in Miami?!

All the reputable media notes are up (USCHO's trash gets released tomorrow). Just a few notes and opinions:
- Spratt was in net when BG upset Miami earlier this year, and he also was the winning goalie in Sunday's OT game. All signs point towards 37 getting the start in net Friday.
- Kyle Page is likely done for the season with a broken wrist. This is a pretty big loss for our defense, but as discussed this will likely pave the way for Russ Sinkewich to get more ice time.
- BG is 13-2 win scoring first. They're 5-17 when they're opponent is the first.
- Miami's students will go on their Spring Break starting this Saturday. For this reason the MU ticket office is releasing some of the student tickets which are usually reserved. This could mean a more even crowd in size.

Some props from Dave Starman of USCHO.com:
Bowling Green is also much improved, and gets Miami. While I know deep down Miami is probably too deep and too explosive, BG winding up in Detroit next week isn’t that farfetched. However, that is an intrastate rivalry, and I can’t see Miami head coach Rico Blasi letting the RedHawks lose it at home. The thing about the CCHA is that the underdogs are dangerous. As head coach Rick Comley of MSU has often said, “There are no teams you want to see in that second round.”

I'll second this one. I've been to Cincinnati Mills once. Probably one of the only places in Cincy that I'd willingly go again.

As someone who is from Cincy, lived there my whole life, and actually works at a store in the mall when home from school, you don't understand how sad that sounds to me, just because of all the crap that mall has been through.Peregrinner wrote:I'll second this one. Also when on 275, couple exits before the Cincy Mills exit there is the Tri-County Mall, and a couple after after the Cincy Mills exit there is Northgate Mall

I'm sure there are plenty of places to go that are totally OK, but Cincinnati is basically just one big pool of bad memories for me. The only places I've been there that don't have completely negative connotations for me are Cincinnati Lacrosse Fest and Riverbend, which I barely count since I had to go to Kentucky to get there.

For those headed to Miami today/tonight.....Don't expect to see much in the way of St. Patty in Oxford tonight. Yesterday was "Green Beer Day" at Miami.

The answer to the trivia was Ryan Murphy. We was not a captain or alternate during the 2000-2001 season. Also, if someone could do me a pretty big favor and text me score updates after the periods? I have to work until 10 tonight so I won't be able to be around a computer. My cell is (to protect myself from cold callers): seven-four-zero-three-six-zero-five-five-eight-two. You will be rewarded with some Magic Hat #9 at the next tailgate!
