Northwestern floors me the most. I mean, doesn't the Big Ten get, like, 10 bids a year? How have they never snuck in, in that league?
I forgot to mention that. I echo your comment. There are a lot of years where teams in that conference get in going 8-8 or worse.

8-8 yes, worse than that it's happened maybe a couple times ever. The Big Ten has earned it's respect though, they have placed more teams in the Final Four than any other conference and have sent seven different schools the past 15 years.

BTW, UMBC has punched their first ever ticket to NCAA tournament today. Congrats to them!

Also, since the Ivy doesn't use a tourney to decide who goes, I feel the better teams over the long haul of the conference season will prevail. Unlike in some conferences where there will be more parity when it comes to tourney time. Just look at Illinois run, or Coppin State this season. Come tourney time, anything can happen. Over the course of a whole season, the best will prevail as champs.

You can take Texas-Arlington off the list of schools to get their 1st bid ever after joining DI after we last made it

We haven't had much parody in this conference since David Letterman graduated from Ball State.

This is the year. I said back at the beginning of the season when we lost a bunch in a row, that we would turn it around and win the MAC. A month or so ago, I stated the men would win the tourney and I'm sticking by my gut feeling on this one.

This past home game, I turned around and looked at Grant while he was watching the game. I've never seen someone more focused and in awe of what he was watching. His comments and actions duplicated the look as well.

As thrilled as I was inside to see Grant excited about BG hoops again, I don't want to have to feel like him and wait 41 years to see our team in the Big Dance. Especially as I'm graduating in May and who knows where I will find a job.

I do know that things are coming together and we're playing some great ball now. Despite all the lower predictions and a slow start, BG has the #1 seed and an actual legitimate chance at winning this. My hopes are high and I CAN'T WAIT til Thursday!

Am I that transparent, Metz?? ;-) Yeah... I've had a special feeling since Andersyn was born... weird... cosmic connection between my dad, the baby, and the hoops program. Call it whatever you want... but it feels real to me.

Keep your optimism up and I'll see you at the Q on Saturday night! Oh, and I'm only 39... so I haven't had to endure ALL 41 years of this drought...

Wow that list gets a little smaller every year. Hopefully we can close the deal this week and give this thread a proper burial sometime on Sunday.

What a great idea. If we can break this thing this weekend, this thread should be deleted from the site, it's contents burned onto a CD-ROM, smashed, and buried in an elaborate ceremony somewhere outside of Anderson Arena. I would make the drive for that.

And I'm with Grant. After the guys came out and played like their hair was on fire, and everything broke right for us to get the 1 seed on Sunday, I think there is something special going on right now. This tournament is as ripe for the picking as it ever will be, and I think Coach Orr and the players know it. The more I think about it, the more optimistic I'm getting. :)

I"m guessing we're burning it to CD because you don't know how to transfer it onto a portable HD or flash drive?
