Toledo notes, blocked shots

Post by Globetrotter »

In the toledo notes there was a tidbit about blocked shots.

After 3 blocks v Toledo Otis is up to #2 all time on the single season blocked shot list. He has 51. Larson had 36 this year and is at 8th in the single season list.

Otis is number 10 all time and on pace to break the all time record for next year. Larson has 47 career blocks.

Anybody notice a name suspiciously missing from ALL those lists? I mean the guy had the first quadruple double in the NBA- he must have blocked some shots.

As I look at this it looks like Howard totals eighty in 72-73, 73-74 alone but doesn't make the career list, while guys with fewer do. Cash gets 93 in 73-74, 74-75 combined but never gets ANY in his third season? Might want to review those figures. And no WAY the big guy is left off- probably didn't even record blocks then.

I know I remember Nate swatting more than one shot, not just blocking, but swatting it into the student section!!! :-D

Maybe they didnt record blocked shots then. And also I think guys only played 3 years for awhile because they had to play on the freshman team. Not sure how these things factor it but one would assume they do.

That makes sense for Thurmond's failure to be listed, which I mentioned. But Cash and Howard only have TWO years listed-yes, they only played three but hard to imagine they blocked NO shots in that third year. Moreover, Howard's two year total is still higher than two players on the list. Possibly blocked shots only started to be tallied in their (Cash and Howard's) junior years. But that still doesn't explain Howard's failure to show up on the all-time list.
