May well end up in the MAC but, as I understand it, most likely as a wide receiver.cph2133 wrote:And to get an inside edge on Sean Joplin (Southview)

And the Toledo rent-a-board is down?! How am I supposed to feed off the despair?!

Not sure there's a lot of despair. Many are thrilled, some like me, sad because the guy is a class act, but not too upset- next year is going to be a looong year, I would guess but a new coach is always a breath of fresh air (see Louis Orr) at least for a minute. Hope springs eternal and its been a long time since we got an NCAA bid. Doesn't mean much to me but I guess it does to others.BGDrew wrote:And the Toledo rent-a-board is down?! He might make a good assistant to Orr, though. With a 14-11? overall record against the Falcons, and a win in his final game last Wednesday in Cleveland, 52-48, ending the Falcon's season, he could certainly identify some of the weeknesses in the program.
Dakich/Joplin is dead. Let the Orr/? era begin!
I'm not sure how long the "let's just play a touch less sh*tty than them" gameplan would hold up.h2oville rocket wrote:and a win in his final game last Wednesday in Cleveland, 52-48, ending the Falcon's season, he could certainly identify some of the weeknesses in the program.![]()
"I don't believe I can name a coach, anywhere, anytime, anyhow, who did it better than Doyt Perry."

Re: Joplin
I had said earlier after the first BG-UT game that Stan was not looking well. My Toledo friend, who know SJ personally, said there were things going on at home. (maybe nothing that killing your kid wouldn't fix, but that's another thread).
Anyway, maybe the AD has been on his case all year. No, it wouldn't be BG's way to fire a coach that was successful, I mean, we didn't fire Don Nehlen did we????

If was was a BETTING man, I would BET Mr Payne's situation has played a major factor in this firing. I don't know, but have been told that that the NCAA hammer may well fall in the very near future concerning the Scooter/Payne etc, etc, etc situation, and was told that this is common knowledge in the Toledo legal community. No "facts", just conjecture.
