Ok, a few comments here. First let me just say that Thursday was awesome. If anyone was around me and they heard some yelling at the officials about a few calls, I apologize. That was more the coach in me than the fan. Some people need to grow up. I know that we have all criticized an athlete at some point about something, but to do so with them sitting right there during a loss is ridiculous. I am not perfect in any way, but there is no way you can justify calling out players right after a game. And if you are going to call them out, you better do it to their face when it is just you and them. Let's see what happens then.

Let's remember that we are one of only a couple teams that had to play a game on Thursday night, and then turn around and travel to play again on Saturday. There are teams that have had three days to get ready for the next game. And let's not forget, MSU was one of the last teams left out of the tournament. They are still a pretty good team. If we could have played Michigan instead of MSU, we probably would have had a chance to win on that short notice. I found this whole tournament to be one sided for the bigger conference schools, but that's the way life goes. I don't think that Ms. McCoy will not want to play for a winner next year because of some retarded fans that are mental potholes. She should be ok with that. I am just so grateful to have been able to watch this team play this year, and to get to see Coach Miller and his staff work. I really wanted to introduce myself to them after the game, but my girlfriend wanted to start back to Columbus, and we still hadn't eaten yet. Everyone just needs to enjoy the ride for as long as Coach Miller is at our great BGSU.

I think I might know the fan/s you are referring to. I have had to bite my tongue numerous times this season over some of the idiotic comments I heard coming from one or two older male "fans". Not a game went by where this one man said, quite loudly "Come on, Kate!". And, might I point out, it was not in a kind, encouraging tone of voice. Kate's "crime" which would draw this response? Perhaps a missed free throw, or not completing a layup while taking a hit.

This being said, I wouldn't worry too much about Nikki McCoy. These girls have heard plenty while they were still in high school, and by now, know that every team has a few of these "fans".

We're lucky if she even wants to play for us. We had some classless comments coming from our fans in the section I was in at the end of that game. Nikki was sitting in the row right in front of me with a stunned looked on her face for some of them. It just pisses me off to see a fan-base cheer so much when a teams doing so good and then do an immediate 180 when things go wrong. Sure yelling at the refs is fine, but things towards our own players is not called for.
I think she'll be fine. She's sure to have witnessed a LOT of love for the team and the program from the fans to the point where 1 isolated incident wouldn't scar her too much. My more immediate concern regarding Nikki is how much the chemistry that was built this season will change with her addition into the lineup. She's a proven big time MAC player but she's a wing and I think our returning starters at that position are pretty priceless. Will she be ok with coming off the bench?

Geez....Nikki and Jen coming off the bench. How many other schools have that much fire power coming off the bench? Is it November yet?
I think the chemistry is just fine. Nikki went through every practice with the team. Although she couldn't travel with them, she made an effort to go to many away games. Curt & company will have fun folding her into the line-up & the rest of the league will being saying "oh no, not again" as BG pushes its way to the top. Let's not borrow trouble, the future will take care of it self with a little help from M,R, P & E. :D 8)

Since you are a coach I see no problem with that, at Saturdays game I had Lindsey's dad a few seats away from me and he was doing that as well, which again doesn't surprise me, I'm sure many coaches who watch a game as a fan do this as well.

Exactly. A handful of yahoos isn't reflective of the hundreds (if not thousands) of fans this program has. It sounds like Coach Roos needs to take a deep breath herself and not overreact to a single email by "calling down" a loyal, classy fan like hockeysue over something she had nothing to do with.

Try being an Ohio State football player who makes the mistake of dropping a pass during a game if you want to see real negative fan reaction.

Coach Roos was doing what she needed to do. I don't know if the e-mail was official from the Miami coaching staff she didn't say. They have worked hard to develop the fan base & want it to be positive. :D She was trying to find out what went on & asked some pointed questions which shook me up. :o Since my big voice starts & continues cheers with the help of all of you she figured I knew what was going on. I was in the office dropping off a Thank You card for an awesome trip on the team bus. :-D Right place wrong time. We were both tired so maybe I took it wrong too. But I've not been questioned by a coach on crowd behavior before.
The cheering has been for the team & very loud the rest of the way!!!
Just remember the fun & return for more next season. Give your voices some rest----then be ready to roar ;-) Thanks for the props :D I do what I can with what I have when I can. 8)

I would like to know as well, since as you know I was in the last few rows of the section you were in
It wasn't you Phil and it wasn't anything profane...just people being stupid and singling out players and the coaching staff at the end of the game. I just didn't see the need for anything negative being said to the team in that situation. We lost 6 seniors last year and still made it to the 2nd round of the WNIT in a "rebuilding" year. I think that is a hell of a season that should be celebrated, not something to gripe about as it was coming to an end.

I tried that in Wisconsin at a football game and someone's wife/gf/something stepped between him and I and stopped the situation from becoming "not good" so I've tried to restain myself since :D

of course!!! stupid me!!! She's been practicing all season with the team and has been involved in basically every team function. Also, after further thought, she's still going to get a lot of minutes so it really doesn't matter if she's in the starting lineup or not.

I still think it's a great "problem" for Coach Miller to have.......too much talent.

Wow. To yell at your own players as a fan is just beyond the pale. I think these "fans" need to get a grip. 7 freshman, won went 26-8 in their 1st season and made it to the 2nd round of the WNIT. What else were these guys expecting??? I was sitting relatively close to Phil too at the Breslin Center and I didn't hear or notice anything like this. Was this during the game, just as time expired or what? If I had heard it I would've like to have given them a piece of my mind. Which is probably good I didn't hear it.

Its not my voice that needs the rest, its my left hand, I go to so many games, no matter the sport, and I guess I clap so much that my hand starts getting little cuts on it below my middle finger. The only good thing about most the seasons coming to an end is it gives my hand a chance to heel.

When you first posted that I had a feeling it had to do with the end of the game, my guess being the fact we didn't start shooting threes. I know where me and Burtch were there was nothing stupid being said.
