How do they determine who gets the BYES? I notice that Mississippi State isranked 84 on the composite rankings listed above, while BG is ranked 73, yet Mississippi State gets a BYE and BG does not. Just one example, that what conference you come from, means more than anything else!
Shouldn't the highest ranked teams get BYES? It is interesting that NOT ONE TEAM from a non BCS conference received a bye, nor do any of the non BCS teams have a home game in the second round. I would at least like to play these teams on a level playing field!
looks like a rather favorable draw for BG. Aside from potentially having to play at MSU, I like the rest of the way we match up against the rest of the teams in this part of the bracket.
I wonder if Suzy Merchant woke up this morning, saw Curt and the Falcons looming, and thought she was still asleep having a really bad dream?

You are right, Factman. I just read down the bracket and the BiG conference teams get all the byes and host 2nd round games. Gotta be the $$$ factor. The non BCS leagues are always getting hosed....
If we beat Dayton, how cool would it be to see MSU come to BG? They do in hockey, soccer, softball...ect. Of course the MSU AD must be in heaven seeing a possibility of BG playing in East Lansing. We travel VERY well.

The website says that the first 16 seeded teams get byes. There is no way that they seeded these teams that way. I can tell you right now that Texas Tech, Mississippi State, Michigan, Colorado, Wisconsin, Marquette, Illinois, Kansas, St. Johns and NC State are not all in the top 16. Wisc. GB is one of the top seeds in the tournament, they are one of the last teams out of the NCAA's. The other teams that were in consideration for NCAA's that are playing games in the the first round are Boise, BG, Charlotte, and VCU.
If you look at some of these teams, it's amazing. I really like the coaching staff at Tech, but they were not one of the top 16. They were 16-15 overall and 4-12 in the conference. Colorado was 16-14 5-11, Miss. St 16-14 4-10, Kansas 16-15 4-12, St. Johns 16-14 7-9. Those are just a few examples. I really thought after reading the website and it saying that the top 16 SEEDS would get first round byes and host the second round, that we would be hosting in the second. I should have known that it meant top 16 power conference teams invited.
After re-reading the website, it doesn't say the top 16 seeds. It just says 16 teams will get first round byes. I still don't agree with it. The women's game is getting much more parity after you get past the top teams, and yet the mid major conferences are still scrapping and clawing while the big conferences are getting too much respect. BUT TRUST ME, IT WILL CHANGE. IT MIGHT TAKE ANOTHER FOUR OR FIVE YEARS, BUT IT WILL CHANGE. The BG's of the world will be getting more respect as each year goes by.
Looking at the match-up with Dayton, we could very well be lucky to be hosting them. They have an RPI of 62 and beat the Indiana team we lost to (though I'm not sure on venue). I haven't looked at numbers, but its quite possible that the only reason we're hosting them is because of our attendance numbers, the same reason the big schools got byes and host in the second round.
I'm not sayin it's right, I'm just sayin....

To be fair when I looked at last year's bracket teams like South Dakota State and Ball State had byes. Still doesn't seem right, but I'm just throwing out they have given non BCS schools byes in the past.
The sad thing is that even though I thought MSU was pretty good, I thought we had the better team. We seemed to get flustered at times during that game and I'm not sure if that's a product of our youth or not. Either way I think the team and especially the returning players should take a great deal of confidence into next season because of MSU's run. Can hardly wait until next year. I just hope Miller sticks around for a few more years until I start making some money so I can start his salary fund to keep him here indefinitely.

TOGETHER WE ATTACK...FIVE PEAT.
They haven't won yet , they have to actually beat Marquette first but I know what you mean. Its encouraging to know we nearly had the possible WNIT champ on the ropes at home in the 1st round on ONE day of rest playing 7 freshman. Man I can't wait for next year.
