Butler was just frustrated because all year he was the only players worth a damn on the team. They didn't play like a tournament team until the last two weeks of the regular season and through the NIT. If they played like this the entire year then they would have definately been in. They finally played to their potential, played like a tournament team.
The team grew up a lot, tey just took too long to do it. They were extremely young. I know they were just as young last year, but the freshman on last year's team was super talented. Much more so than this year. It didn't help that Kosta Koufos played out of position all season. He is a 4 not a 5. It took him all season to get used to playing with his back to the basket. It was definately a blessing in disguise going to the NIT. They were still playing in April while the round 1,2,sweet 16 and elite 8 losing teams of he NCAA tournament were sitting at home watching TV.
I wouldn't put much into Butler's comments though. He was a frustrated senior who just wishes they played all season long the way that they have in the last 4 weeks (including NIT). I think the way the comments came out sound much worse that they really are.
Look out next year with Mullins at the 5 and Koufos can move to the 4 where he is DANGEROUS (if he stays anyways), Bouford from Libbey..Lighty and Evan Turner (who really came around the last few weeks), Lauderdale is a great shot blocker and a big time dunker, Throw in Anthony Crater at PG and Walter Offutt. They will be making another run at the National Title next year.
Any thoughts on Butler's comments last night?

BG hasn't always fared very well against Findlay and I'm talking regular season here. A couple losses in the late eighties and early 90s I think at AA. By all accounts I've heard, and several of my family know Butler, he's a quality guy. I'm no osu fan- don't care much one way or the other but what he said? Eh-a little chest thumping. Who doesn't do that?Falconfreak90 wrote:Oh, and OSU lost to Findlay.

The two national finalists from a year ago (OSU and Florida) each had the same problem this season, they were too young and didn't grow up in time to make the Big Tourney. I expect both to return to the Big Dnace next year and each can make deep runs, as long as they each keep growing up
While the comment was stupid years from now when Butler is talking about his senior year (which may be rare, probably talk about junior year more then anything) he'll bring up the NIT and no one will probably remember his stupid comment, hell he'll probably look back at it and think it was stupid to say
