Adrian Hodges and Ray Hutson
Adrian Hodges and Ray Hutson
Any one have some insight on these two red-shirt freshman receivers? They both had a really good scrimmage the other night and I was wondering if any one thinks they can break in the already stacked receiver corp as starters.

Well, seeing as we have Barnes, Partridge, Parks, Pronty, Wright, Kelly, AND Cheatem out there already, they'd have to be really sweet to crack the starting lineup. The one thing we do lack out of that group is a true deep threat that can just burn people. Barnes can do that a little bit and so can Wright I suppose, but most of our other guys are pretty much possession receivers. Not that there's anything wrong with having guys that can catch, I like that, but if one of those guys is able to get by guys and go up to make a deep catch from Sheehan, then they'll have a place on the team for sure.

I like what Kelly did in the few games that he got to play last year. I think she should be our #3 guy behind Freddie and CP.
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

Well enter new Juco QB Andrew Beam whom I haven't heard a peep about in these scrimmage threads. Is he indeed in spring ball with the rest of the team? I figured if Juco transfer Robert Lorenzi is with the team in spring drills so would Beam. So anyone heard or seen anything about him on how he looks? I believe he has the arm and deep ball accuracy to use a fast deep thread wr. I saw enough in that one long high light video to know Beam has the arm strength to throw it deep and with pretty good accuracy something Sheehan lacks big time right now.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:I don't think we need a deep threat until we have a QB that can throw a deep ball.

We're not changing QBs unless Sheehan gets injured. Or unless if he totally sucks for some reason, but that wouldn't be until the beginning of the MAC season at the earliest.Falconboy wrote:Well enter new Juco QB Andrew Beam whom I haven't heard a peep about in these scrimmage threads. Lorenzi and the other JUCO McHugh are in camp because they signed LOI's in time to enroll inthe spring semester. Beam signed after that deadline so he is not participatiung in spring practice.
Beam has the talent to give Sheehan some competition this fall...as does Nate Brown. I'm just glad that coach Brandon didn't set us up for a repeat of 2005. Once Omar got hurt all we had for a back up was a redshirt freshman (AT). Jason Washington had left the program the summer of 2005 and we didn't plug in an experienced back up. This year, Glaud left after the GMAC Bowl so GB went out and got us a QB with some experience.
I think QB is going to be a real strength this year.

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

I'm guessing that Beam is not even ENROLLED in school yet, based upon a February signing...When did the 2nd semester START?Flipper wrote:Lorenzi and the other JUCO McHugh are in camp because they signed LOI's in time to enroll inthe spring semester. Nate Brown will be back and will take over for Sheehan for the strating job. I don't really like Sheehan that much. he had a good year last year, but that was a product of a great O-Line and good reciever play. Sheehan has lead feet and with an O-Line that is in some transition, we may need a guy in there that can make plays with his feet. I have faith that Nate will get his grades in order and will be a great Falcon!
